We just got power back a few minutes ago but many parts of the state will be without for a few days based on what we heard from the car radio. It's good to be in touch with news again. Sincere condolences to the many who suffered much worse fates.
My house in Philly was thankfully not harmed at all, but my parents house suffered a downed tree but luckily it fell into the pool and didn't destroy any of our house. Yikes.
Never lost power here, except the couple of flickers in the morning. Really lucked out, considering three quarters of my town did lose it. The town I work in, and nearly every other one around it: 100% no power. Still ended up there anyway, as its running on generators (for now).
Did lose internet from just before Noon to sometime overnight while I was asleep. Most of the cable TV was out too, only had a handful of channels. Just ended up watching BBC America all day long and drank some beers.
Could be much worse. The area where Mountain Jam and Bluestock is held for example... or much of Vermont.

Sometime between 4AM and 12Noon Sunday a tree fell over blocking my street and took down the power lines and a pole. The damn tree went down after the brunt of Irene was moving out and my half of the block was out of power until this morning. The cops had to section off 3 blocks around my house, but PECO and Asplundh took care of the tree and power fairly quickly. Funnily enough, the house next door to me had power, but my house and the houses on the south end of my block did not.
Here are some pics of the Schuylkill River from Sunday after the storm. The first picture was taken around 12:30PM before the river crested and the others were taken around 6:30PM after it crested. The river was so bloated you can barely notice the waterfall next to the waterworks pavilion.

Just in from WV, where it rained really, really hard but that was all. Many in the DC area have no power, downed trees or flooded basements and others have no damage. Dan's house is fine and I'll go home tomorrow. I'm sure my place is OK as well.
I am pretty much unscathed as well. Never fully lost power, but have been without cable and internet. My parent's town (Marlborough, CT) is 100% without power. They lost a HUGE tree which luckily fell away from their house and are still without power. They are told it probably will be about 7 days before they get power. They showered at my apartment last night (20-25 mins away).
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
At my work, it's starting to get pretty bad. The generators are running low. Power equipment batteries are running low. The amount of things we can do at present time are low.
I got out of work today at 11:30, and that was staying an hour extra than I really could have. Much of my department went at 10:30 due to lack of work and being in the way.
And yet, our stores have demands we're struggling to fulfill. I'm surprised they're trying to send out trailers with more than water and batteries. And I'm sure when the power comes back, we'll be totally fucked with overwhelming amounts of work and mandatory overtime. Already we're 30k picks behind and have 300k cubic feet of products in trailers waiting to be processed.
A 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment, walks his tour in reverence during Hurricane Irene in Arlington National Cemetery, Va., Aug 27. Members of The Old Guard have guarded the Tomb every second, of every day regardless of weather or holidays since April 6, 1948.
He never left his side.
THAT (!) is utterly amazing.
In far less poignant news, I awoke at 3 AM in Boston and drove 3 hrs north to Camden Maine ahead of the storm. Drove through light drizzle with the occasional downpour. The storm hooked west and ultimately missed where I had been staying in ME altogether.
Sorry for this being less than topical at this point, but I don't much anymore and I was there working (taking a class I work sent me to) about 18 hours a day for the last week. All the best in recovery to those who were hit.
