Any way to add the option of "liking" certain posts? I've seen this on other boards, although the approval can go by different names (e.g. "so-and-so found this helpful"). This would be useful in directing to the more important posts within a certain thread, and also hopefully decreasing the number of unnecessary posts that are expressing said approval of another's post.
I "like" this. Far more than the karma system (which I disabled years ago)... whereas the karma system suggests an applauding of a user in general, this would make it more specific to the comment, which I think would be a more fair numerical representation. We have something like this on the Litany Forum (the official Skinny Puppy forums), and it works incredibly well. No worrying about people anonymously smiting you and trying to compromise your rating, because someone doesn't like your posts.

Better yet, add a "like" and "dislike" on each post so you can still smite a particularly useless statement. This would come in quite handy each Spring. People (like me) might learn the error of their ways.
That would be best... in each user's profile, have links for "whose karma have i changed" and "who's changed my karma", with the name of the user who changed it and what specific message, maybe even a reason.
Wording, of course, would be different, but that's exactly how it is on Litany and it works perfectly... never any confusion about anything related to that and it's not abused like our current Karma system has always been.
I am truly sorry, however, for expressing a suggestion on how to improve the board in the "Suggest how to improve the board" subforum. I hope you can forgive me.
I've seen this on a couple other forums as well - not sure if it can be ported over to ProBoards or not, but I hope so. It'd be a good way to show which posts people found especially helpful, and it'd help cut down on the number of posts that say nothing more than "agreed/this/yes/etc".

Thank you, thank you, thank you, mods. Nice to know we common folk have a voice. Hopefully this change will make a difference in the quality and quantity of posts.
Haha. Just checking to make sure that the dislike button works too!
Edit: and is "undislike" really a word? I need to check the Scrabble dictionary at least. If undislike is really a word is disunlike really a word too? And if it is, does it mean something different?

Maybe. I'm not slowing down till I'm where I was before.
