I saw New Multitudes last week in Philly and it was a phenomenal show. All four guys are freaking awesome. I wasnt that familiar with anders or will johnson, but I am a huge fan of both now. I know Danbird was there and he can confirm it. I can't wait to see them again in RI; they might have to tone it down a bit for Newport though, they were seriously rocking Pastures of Plenty was incredible and for what little practice time they had to prepare for these shows, they definitely all brought their A game
I want to say that I just ate the famous fawn and quacker french toast, and for everyone whos coming to NFF, you have an amazing dish to look forward to
Hey guys... I am a Rhode Islander who moved out after high school. Never been to NFF, but my wife and I are finally going this year! For the RIers, my parents live in West Warwick, so we can stay there for free and drive back and forth each day, but you all are making me nervous about the traffic. Am I better off spending the money and staying out in Newport? I also will need to hti up these Deer Tick shows for sure.
What do you guys think? How bad it it driving in, really?

I have no idea, but my parents were kinda looking for more information about the traffic as well. Their hotel is outside of town and they were wondering about logistics of traffic- driving all the way in, or driving into town and water taxiing perhaps?
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
The year I went, 2010, we got stuck on the main drag for about 30/45 minutes. Once you are through that it was smooth sailing. like another 10 minutes after traffic lets up.
Agreed. The traffic issue is when you are actually in town/Newport. Getting through town to the fort takes the most time. And of course if you leave at the end of the day with everyone else, plan to sit in line for an hour getting out of the fort. Bring refreshments and pass the talking about the amazing day you just had

I can't wait for this Fest. Bought my ticket last week and I'm stoked. MMJ is going to be a religious experience. I'm also a big fan of Gary Clark and Jackson Browne. I'm wondering though, looking at the saturday list... Any hidden gems in there for me?
I'm not 100% on the Wilco show yet. I still need to see what else is going on in the area before I buy tickets. I'm assuming those aren't going to sell-out right? My ultimate hope is that there is going to be a Ramble with some great NFF act opening on Friday night (mmj, mmj, mmj, mmj).

So wait, if I have this correct does this mean if we're going to folk fest we'll get in for the Wilco show as well? The wording makes me think it's like the first day of the festival.
Newport Folk Festival will hold a Friday night show on July 27 just before the previously announced main festivities that weekend. The lineup for this date will feature Wilco, Blitzen Trapper, and Megafaun. Tickets go on sale Friday, April 13 at 11 AM. Limited-edition keepsakes will be given to the first 1,000 to enter the gates.
In addition to this show, busy guys Wilco have tacked on even more dates to their Summer tour. This run will see them traveling through the Northeast.

Cool thanks for clearing that up guys. I may have to buy this ticket and then figure out if I can make it for the show. May have to leave a little earlier than I planned on that Friday.
