Probably getting too obscure (I blame the Bonnaroo clues) but Beetlejuice came out in 1988. The #1 song in 1988 for the dates of Forecastle was by Cheap Trick.

You can take this for what it is worth, but my girlfriend's sister is dating Figure, and he will be at Forecastle. I know it sounds like a stretch, but it is true. Also, hello inforoo, longtime lurker.
Heard good things about Duck Sauce. Anyone a fan? Seen em?
[youtube]
This is the only song of their's I'm familiar with which even plays on the radio now. I'm guessing it will be a fun show.
Duck Sauce is supposedly great live. Another board that I'm on the posters there that I listen to say it's always a fun show and seem genuinely excited to see that name anywhere.
Before I'd even heard "Barbra Streisand" (which is an OK song but kind of annoying/repetitive IMO), I saw the video for "Big Bad Wolf." That video is incredible. I'm not gonna post it here because it's kind of NSFW, but everyone should immediately go to YouTube and watch that video. Hilarious.

Fair enough. Watch Master and Commander or something then. I think the "foke-sull" is an example of where the pronunciation started out as "forecastle" but got shortened and bastardized by repeated usage on British Navy vessels which often had poorly educated men making up all but the officers.
Yeah, that's the way that wiki page explained it. Like it's just "forecastle" broken up as fo'c's'l.
Which is kind of crazy to think about. Imagine if all English got minimalized like that. We would have a really hard time und'st'nd'n' each other.
Have you ever read Riddley Walker? It's a book about the future in which there has been some disaster in the past which destroyed the world's infrastructure enough to where humankind has been brought back to a dark ages like existence. Over the course of time, English devolves to where things are very minimalized and spelling is almost phonetic. The entire book is written in first person in that English.
