Yeah, that's the way that wiki page explained it. Like it's just "forecastle" broken up as fo'c's'l.
Which is kind of crazy to think about. Imagine if all English got minimalized like that. We would have a really hard time und'st'nd'n' each other.
Have you ever read Riddley Walker? It's a book about the future in which there has been some disaster in the past which destroyed the world's infrastructure enough to where humankind has been brought back to a dark ages like existence. Over the course of time, English devolves to where things are very minimalized and spelling is almost phonetic. The entire book is written in first person in that English.
Holy shit. I haven't, but I must check it out. If only to challenge myself to see if I can understand it
Neil/MMJ or MMJ/Wilco. Either one will have me figuring something out.[/unquote]
Go ahead and start figuring something out. Wilco will be there. I have a buddy who is friends with MMJ. MMJ told said friend who in turn told me that Wilco will be there.

Come on out to Kauai, you will hear something very similar from the locals. Everyday i struggle to translate their pigeon talk

Damn it, bky. I'm trying to NOT go. Thanks for the heads up. I'm working on some magic now. I mean we don't need that much plasma, right?

I'm not a huge Wilco fan but I think that is a great fit for the fest if true. I would be excited to see them.
This is actually surprising to me, bacon. I figured bare-minimum you'd champion the first couple of records.
Actually believe it or not I think I prefer their newer more experimental stuff. Something about their more country sounding stuff comes off as unauthentic to me. I would be very interested to see them at a festival though.

Inauthentic? Come on dude, that's a little harsh. Gonna have to explain yourself there.
Not liking their music that much is one thing, but inauthentic? I mean, they were never straight-up country; they were always an alt-country band, even at their most country-sounding. So explain what you mean by inauthentic.
Maybe inauthentic is the wrong word, but the majority of their material does not resonate with me. I understand why people enjoy them but for me much of their music, especially the country stuff, comes off as too "safe". Plus I have always felt that Tweedy's songwriting better suited the experimental stuff than the country stuff. I am going to go back through and listen to everything a few times now. I'll let you know if anything has changed for me.

I can respect that. I have tons of friends that refuse to believe the band recorded YHF or anything after. Then I have friends that hate everything before YHF.
I personally don't care. It's all rockn'roll.
... and I like it. ;D
