What the hell no Grimes?! I was super stoked to see the Cloud Nothings addition but seriously disappointed by them dropping Grimes. Damn, that was a big draw for me.
Unfortunately I can't really vouch for my source, but I'm hearing Tanlines and Girl Talk on the boat Friday night after Bassnectar. Take it with a grain of salt, but it's more than we've heard from anywhere else.

I'm also kind of bummed about the Grimes drop. I wasn't aware of her before this, but called up some of her tunes on youtube after seeing her on the lineup and really was getting into her. I even downloaded a bunch of her songs. Darn.
Came here as soon as I heard the news. This has been an awful, awful year for music already, and now with the passing of another legend, I don't know how much more my soul can take. Donald Dunn inspired me to groove. Was really looking forward to the Stax Revue. A sad, sad day.
Still no word from Forecastle if the Stax Revue will still be a part of the festival. I'm thinking NO, but I respect that both sides need time to figure out where to go from here.
On a much brighter note, we're finally getting those late-night shows announced tomorrow! Woo!
From July 13-15th, Forecastle Festival will celebrate its tenth birthday at Waterfront Park in Louisville, KY. However, prior to the weekend’s festivities, Purity Ring and Dean & Britta will head an official kickoff party presented by Consequence of Sound. The 21+ event takes place on Thursday, July 12th at Louisville’s Club 116 and tickets priced at $22 will go on sale via the festival’s official website this Saturday, May 19th at noon EST.
But, wait, that’s not the only soiree happening down in Louisville over the weekend. On Saturday, July 14th, the Belle of Louisville – yep, that’s a steamboat – will play host to the Preservation Hall Jazz Band featuring special appearances by members of My Morning Jacket. This all-ages event starts at midnight and goes into the early morning. Tickets will cost you $50.00, due to the intimate space, and those also go on-sale this Saturday at noon EST.
Forecastle Festival runs July 13-15th at Waterfront Park in Louisville, Kentucky. Single-day, three-day, and VIP passes are now available via the festival’s website.
I'll gladly take Purity Ring.

I'd say it's a possibility. The whole CoS pre-party screams Moogfest where they have people playing another show before the festival. Dean Wareham is already there performing Galaxie 500 stuff, I can see Purity Ring added as well.

Oh, does anyone know if we are getting wristbands at the gate? Or do we just use our tickets all weekend? It doesn't say on the tickets and I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere.
Reason I ask is we're going VIP but we are leaving out somewhat early on Sunday. Thought that if someone wanted to use our VIP tix for Sunday evening they could get them from us before we head out.

The way they did it the last year, in 2010, was you had 1 ticket per each day of the festival. You would get a seperate wristband for each day. Since they just mailed out 1 ticket for the whole weekend this year, I'm thinking we'll get just 1 wristband. Maybe if they don't put them on too tight, you could give them to a lucky person. But they're usually nazis about that kind of stuff these days...
Damn....$50 is high. Not sure if I can afford that and that is the one LN show I was looking forward to most. How quickly will that sell out?
They will sell out very fast. If I remember right, the boat only holds maybe 500-750 ppl. It's always very crowded and very sweaty. But you do have a nice boat deck to go chill off on if you need a breather! ;D

Attention all Forecastle weekend passholders! Due to limited capacity we are offering you a special presale for the kickoff party at Club 116 and the Saturday after party aboard the Belle of Louisville before tickets go on sale to the general public. All weekend passes (VIP & GA) purchased by the end of today (Wednesday, May 16) will have first dibs to purchase a ticket for each party. You will be sent a password to the email address you provided that will allow you to purchase your tickets beginning at 12 pm EST on Friday, May 18, while supplies last.
Between Roll Call pre-sale, ticket-holder pre-sale, and the general sale I figure I should be able to get a ticket to the Pres-Hall show. Fingers crossed
