I am debating this. I wish the other after parties were out before I had to make the call. I did notice that they confirmed there will be a Friday show on the belle, just no word who it is.
Is anyone going from Nashville to Forecastle for the full weekend - want to help a brotha out?
I'm planning on passing through Nashville on my way there and on my way back, but I'm not 100% sure I'm going yet. I'll keep you posted on my progress. I'll be glad to help out if it works out for me to go.
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.
Looks like I won't be able to make Forecastle work for me this year, which is a total bummer because I've got family in Louisville and it sounds like a great festival.
HOWEVER, make sure you stop by and say hi to my cousin at the fest--he'll be a vendor there for Skeeball. (pardon the plug!) He's got his own company called SkeeNation where he does leagues stationed at bars throughout the country and has now gotten on board for taking the machines festivals. He just did the Sweetwater 420 Fest, East Atlanta Beer Fest, he's booked for Music Midtown this year and is working on 'Roo for next year. but its a good time, and I'm sure it'll be a great addition to the festival!
Now we're talking! I've heard good things about most of these bands, but I've personally seen Moon Taxi and Futerbirds and they are amazing live! These are some good adds.
I'm still hoping that the Stax! Soul Revue will still happen (as a tribute to the recently departed Donald Dunn). Can anyone direct me to a good re-fresher on their stuff? Maybe a playlist/album stream/setlists? My googles are letting me down.
"Remember when we told you that even more juicy after-party details would be coming your way? We've got two more major dance parties in the works! Details tomorrow!"
I'm on the fence about just selling my Forecastle ticket and going to All Good instead. I love the Forecastle lineup but the fact that it's a city fest (even though I live here and can go home to my own apartment every night) and the fact that the after parties are all lame except MMJ and PHJB which I couldn't even get a ticket for. I'm very disappointed by this whole outcome.

You love the lineup and you can go home every night ... there shouldn't be a problem.
But a big draw for me was the chance to see Daedelus and FlyLo and some of the other big acts maybe do after party shows, plus the MMJ and Pres. Hall show was something I was incredibly excited for.
And the city thing kind of sucks because it's just not the same vibe, ya know? Plus I don't have the same liberties I'd have at a nice outdoor camping festival.
We'll see. If they announce any after parties that actually interest me my mind will quickly change.
When I went in 2010, I realized that it is a different feel than a camping festival, not just because you get to go home to a bed and shower every day. There's something a camping festival has that every single inner city festival will never have. (To be honest, this is the only festival I'm hitting up this summer, and it makes me a little sad that I won't be going to a full on 4 day camping festival but it just wasn't in my budget this year.) That being said, Forecastle will turn out to be a great festy and you'll be sad you missed it. I'd really consider all the pros and cons before backing out. Just my 2 cents...
Edit: just looked on Forecastle's Facebook page and someone asked if any more late night acts would be announced. They replied with "That rounds em out!" Ugh...that's disappointing. Oh well, guess we'll have to hit up the downtown bars since all shows will end around midnight. Anyone have any suggestions? I heard the bars stay open til 4 a.m.

Steer clear of 4th street. I'd suggest Bardstown Rd.
And the news about the late night shows really blows. There is literally one LN show worth seeing and I wont be seeing it. I'm not trying to rag on it or anything I guess I just had way higher expectations than this. There are quite a few pros to going, the biggest con being that All Good is the next weekend and extra money for that would never hurt. Glad I have a few weeks to decide because right now I'm pretty peed about the lack of worthwhile after parties.

I had inflated expectations, as well. And you're right the adds and late-nights have been weak. Still holding out hope that Headliners & other clubs will be smart enough to book some cool bands that weekend with everyone in town. What happened to all the Friends of MMJ we were so sure would show up this year??
