I still can't get confirmation from Forecastle as to the pit system on the main stage. Will it be GA like Roo? I've tweeted, Facebooked, e-mailed, the whole deal -- no reply. What gives??

I read the pit will be open to GA for most regular sets. For MMJ, only after Roll Call & VIP have had access, so I wouldn't get my hopes up. Take the fence rail, the next best spot.
We are getting in around 3 on Friday as well. But I think we're gonna just hit the Bourbon Bar real quick before heading to the festival. Pizza does sound good though- we bought a certificate at restaurant.com to eat at the Bourbon/Jockey Silks Room- gonna hit it up on Friday.
Sunday brunch vote?
swirling restaurant in the sky, the Rivue
or some other place like Toast on Market (within walking distance of festival)
or Lynn's Paradise Cafe?
Since it's Wednesday night I think we need to get this squared away soon. I think we should do at least one day downtown to make it easier. I don't know about the Rivue for Sunday brunch since it's so expensive, unless no one minds the cost.
The BBC serves food and opens at noon on Sunday and 11 on Saturday. It has a location on the corner of 4th Street Live and one on 3rd and Main by the new arena.
Hillbilly Tea is open at 10 both Saturday and Sunday.
We can also do Lynn's since it's not that far out of downtown and is open for breakfast and lunch both days.
I'm not picky as long as you guys aren't dragging me to something that serves nothing but salad and tofu.

Oh and LD, the above directions are about the only options you have other than taking the Watterson all the way around to 64 over on the west side of town then taking it east into downtown.
And for anyone coming in from the north, you can take I265 around New Albany and Clarksville to I64 then cross over into Louisville on the Sherman Minton Bridge. You should avoid most of the traffic that way.

We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

Few suggestions for everyone based on reading the forum....
TRAFFIC: If coming from I-64 you should be fine coming straight into downtown from either direction. There may be some back-up from people taking detours but overall this should not be a major problem.
If coming from I-65S (coming into Louisville from Indiana) there are 2 lanes open across the bridge. As long as you avoid rush hour (4-6 to be safe)the traffic is not too bad coming this direction.
If coming I-65N traffic is awful (minimum 30 minutes from the Watterson Expressway I-264 to downtown). ALSO for anyone arriving after Friday I-65N will be CLOSED from 7pm Friday evening until Monday morning from I-264 to the bridge so you will be forced to detour.
My recommendation - If driving on I-65N take the exit towards the Watterson Expressway (I-264) and you want to go EAST. This should keep you away from the majority of the traffic. Once on I-264E take you second exit (Newburg Road) and turn left at the light at the end of the exit. Newburg Rd goes straight and turns into Baxter Ave and is less crowded and has less lights than Bardstown Road. Baxter Ave will turn into Jefferson St (one way into downtown) so you can continue straight and turn RIGHT on 2nd Street. Go up two blocks and turn LEFT on Main St. and the Galt House is on your RIGHT.
There are other ways but if you are looking for the fastest I believe that is the way to go having lived here all my life. If you are not time crunched you can get off I-264 at the Bardstown Road exit (one exit after Newburg Rd). This will provide a nice trip down a street that really makes Louisville, Louisville. It is very eccentric and houses lots of local stores, shops, and restaurants.
Food:
Downtown -
Doc Crows (BBQ and Seafood) - Main St. Impellizerri's (Pizza) - Main St. Garage Bar (brunch/various foods) - Market St. Toast (breakfast) - try to make reservations always a wait! - Market St. Lynn's Paradise Cafe (breakfast/brunch) - Barret Ave.
Drinks:
Jockey Silks Lounge (Galt House) - Great Bourbon selection Troll Pub (Main St) Against the Grain (Main St) - Brewery BBC Brewhouse (Main St) - Brewery Louisville Beer Store (Market St) - purchase/drink beer great selection of beers around the world Sergio's World of Beers (Frankfort Ave.) - over 1,300 beers never been to anywhere like it. About 10 minutes tops from the Galt House. CASH ONLY! Holy Grale (Bardstown Rd) - Specialty Craft/World Beers in an old church
Other suggestions of things to do/see in Louisville -
Louisville Slugger Museum Kentucky Derby Museum Frazier Arm's Museum
I can provide more suggestions or answer other questions anyone may have. Most of the food places I have mentioned are fairly cost friendly so if you are looking for more expensive (upscale) options let me know.

You can take the Watterson to a number of exits that will take you though town, then you just have to deal with stop lights, but not a ton of traffic, you don't have to go all the way to 64.
and LLL it's sad but our best record shop closed recently :\ there are still a couple other ones that are pretty decent though, what exactly are you looking for?

I'm game for record store trips.
I don't think it will rain all day and evening, but its likely something will blow thru at some point.

I agree with you on the directions part, taking the Watterson really is going to be much faster than any other way, whether you get off at Newburgh or Bardstown or whatever.
Also wanted to add the 21C (modern art) museum. It's right downtown, it's open 24 hours hours, and it's free! Also Bearno's has good pizza and it's right downtown.

Please and Thank you is the closest store with vinyl and is in the NuLu district. There are a few on Bardstown Rd area like The Great Escape and Underground Sounds. Unfortunately Ear X-Tacy closed as some one mentioned

Who's all going to the kickoff show tonight? Any idea when the first band's on? Can you guys all wear giant cowboy or Dr Suess hats so I can easily recognize ya and buy you beers?

Grrreat bar hopping, restaurants & shops. I second the Holy Grail... Belgian beers and hors 'doeurves in an old cathedral... yes, please. And the Garage is a cool joint. You could easily spend a day just wandering the Road.

Well that's some really piss-poor timing. We've had ongoing construction around Nashville all summer, but they were smart enough to put that on hold during Bonnaroo/CMAFest weekend.
Are there any grocery stores within walking distance of the Marriott Courtyard? Also what is the best local delivery pizza that will deliver to the Marriott?
I'm in the airport see everyone soon. FOOOORRRREEEECASTLLLEEEEE!!!!

Not too sure on the grocery stores but as far as ordering pizza if you like New York Style pizza I would order Spinelli's they deliver until 5 am.
Speaking of recognizing fellow inforoosters, should I just go up to random people and say "Whoreshack?".
We are gonna try to hit up the BBC place Saturday night after MMJ. If anyone isn't doing the boat party, and would like to hang, let us know!
FYI on BBC. There is one on Main St. (closest to the festival) that is called the BBC Taproom. This place is only open 4-10pm Tuesday-Friday. There are other BBC's around the city but they are owned/operated by a different group of people and offer some different beers.
