Hey, I want to give people on here a heads up, if it's not been mentioned before. This festival is in my backyard, so to speak, and I've been to nearly every Hookahville LV has hosted since 2003. That said, at this past spring Hookahville, there was an enormous police presence on the way in, and a ton of people got pulled over and full-scale searched. The band ekoostik hookah even went so far as to post on their facebook page and their msg board afterward urging people to consult with a local attorney about possible civil rights violations. Obviously, AG is not happening Memorial Day weekend, but people should still be cautious. Use your turn signals, wear your seat belts, don't speed. Be particularly careful when pulling off I-70. Come to a complete stop, etc. I'll be there this weekend, and I think it's going to be a blast (The Ferris Wheel is going up right now), but be smart. I'd also suggest if you do get pulled over for a spurious reason to have someone turn on the recording app on their cell phone, if possible. Don't videotape. Just turn on the recording device. It could help you down the road if they decide to search you without a criminal indicator.

^^^ thank you for your insight. we're coming from ct in a rental car with a license plate from who knows where at this point. if the all good traffic plan is correct we spend a decent amount of time off the highway before the grounds. do you think traffic should be not awful?
Post by klimfactor on Jul 17, 2012 19:54:50 GMT -5
The traffic likely will depend on the time at which you arrive. I think it might back up early as gates initially open, and then hopefully get a little better as people start flowing in at different times. The good news is there isn't a small mountain road to traverse like at Marvin's Mountaintop. The venue is like a literal stone's throw from the interstate. I'm also hearing their expecting close to 20,000, which I think is a little less than recent years.

cool. yeah, that dirt road was quite the drive. i went in 08. so far whenever i don't do roo, i head to all good.
my buddy doing all the driving (hero!) wants to get there early, not 25/person early, but early enough. he's getting the rental, doing the driving, so i'll go whenever he wants to go.
We're leaving at around 5am from Buffalo. Well that's our goal time. We probably won't leave until 6am and with kids the drive usually ends up being a lot longer. So I'm hoping for around a 1pm arrival.

Thank you so much for giving us some insight! I had heard about this and was wondering if it was true. Also, since you're familiar with Legend Valley, What do you think the set up will be like? From my understanding, camping isn't far from the main area and I'm hoping there will be some shade somewhere. I'm from Ohio but I've never been to hookahville, which I seriously thought was the only thing that happened in Legend Valley. ha! Anyway, Im loving the warnings about our stateys. They can be a pain, everyone should def. be on their best driving behavior.

From what I know, they've put in over 2,000 lbs. of gravel on the other side of Ohio 13 from the festival grounds. They've used it to create a roadway system, and that's where the bulk of the camping is going to be for GA. It's a walk, but there aren't the hills like you had at Marvin's. The length of the walk will depend on where they park you. The closer to Ohio 13 the better. I think the VIP's are going to get closer camping (On the same side of the road as the venue), and they may have even cleared out some wooded areas for them. I think tent only also might be on the venue side of the road. They have dug new wells on site to put in some showers and running water, so that's a plus.

One last thing - and I have it on good authority - I've heard staff are going to be conducting some pretty intensive searches of cars on the way into the grounds.

So sad to see this one end. Went solo and ended up making a ton of new friends. Absolutely loved the set up at Legend Valley. The cool people, great music and positive vibe made it really special.
Hope everyone who went had a wicked good time!
p.s. A special shout out to my good neighbor Troy from Cincy who kept me laughing and grooving all weekend long, thanks brother, one love!
The fest was pretty good. Not as good as 2010. Unless there is some insane lineup I won't be back to Allgood. LV is a realllllly long way from me, like 13 hrs long so it's not a tough choice. VIP was a ripoff. We got showers and A/C bathrooms which were nice but not worth all that extra money. If you were VIP they essentially tried to lock you down to that area. You couldn't walk through the concert area to get to VIP camp after the latenight shows, you had to take a taxi. Taxis wouldn't take you to fuckking VIP after hours either! We raged late night with friends in GA and then got stuck and they wouldn't let us back to our camp for like 40 minutes until I raised hell and made them do something about it. My GF needed her insulin so it was complete bulllshitt that they wouldn't help us.
The Staff at allgood was WORTHLESS. They didn't know anything, couldn't or wouldn't help you with anything, and were mostly concerned with trying to find druggs on people they were searching so they could steal them for themselves.
Lots of issues with cops and the "safety team" going through people's campsites in the GA camping and robbing people. Read the FB. A lot of negative comments got deleted by Allgood, but plenty of people were reporting getting robbed by the security guards and dirty cops.
The music was great! Being up front sucked though because you are dancing on f'in gravel. Lots of people hurt their feet and ankles on it.

I enjoyed the crap out of Allgood. It was my first one and I had zero bad experiences. Everyone I met was amazing, the shows were fantastic, camping was kind of a cluster but we made it work. Everyone was so friendly and full of love! Dancing in the gravel was kind of a drag but we got over it pretty fast. I will be going again, for sure! <3 It was also my first time seeing the Lips and that just changed my life. I couldn't be more pleased. =)
I'm a little sad that no everyone had as good a time as I had, though. =(
Absolutely ZERO issues with any of the staff. The venue was fine and the rocks didn't bother us at all and I had kids with me.
We met so many awesome people and the music was really good throughout the weekend.
A lot of the stories I've read on FB are a little questionable. But whatever. If you want to blame stuff like that on the staff because it gives you a reason to "damn the man" then whatever. I've been to a few festivals in my time and I've realized that if you leave the security alone and don't give them a reason to look your way they will do the same to you. Not one of the stories on FB have said that they walked up to their tent and a security guard was walking away with their belongings. So I'll take all of those rants with a grain of salt.
Anyways. All Good lived up to its name and I'll definitely be back....again. And I will defend them as a well put together festival. They deserve it.
I heard tons of horror stories while I was there, and personally witnessed quite a few incidents. I get around and am at lots of shows and festis all over the place. Just because YOU didn't see shit and had a great time doesn't mean you were partying in wonderland.
I didn't go to Allgood last year because in 2010 my girl and I watched teams of local security roaming the back campgrounds robbing all the empty campsites of anything and everything, shaking down tour kids for money etc This went on for hours and we only went back this year because it changed venues.
I still had a great time, but it is important for the heads to know about the sketchy shit going down at festivals these days so they don't get victimized. If you aren't a tourhead and are just a regular fan going for a good time you aren't going to have issues.

I won't add any more fuel to the fire except that karen's analysis is spot on. If you love, you love, and if you hate you hate. All is good except I didn't meet one hater in the crowd so carry on.
I was also VIP and for $500+ I think they took care of us as good as they could.
I could bitch about the lack of ice, or the humid weather, or the security checks - but in the end isn't that the most trivial complaint about the best summer weekend of your life?

Nice comment but please clarify. Were you in VIP or is this speculation? I met nearly every "head" in VIP and I never caught this vibe from a single one of them.

I read all of the posts throughout the weekend. So I know what was said. I still stand behind my comments.
Also if you see something that you are convinced is completely WRONG then it's your job as a part of the camp community to do something about that.
I know I've had to do this in the past. If I see something that I'm completely sure is not ok. Like theft. I've done something about it. And 9 time out of 10 the situation was made better because of it.
I get around as well. I've been going to festivals since I was 15. I know my way around. I know what to expect and I know when something is security doing their job and when they are overstepping their boundaries. The few times I saw that I intervined. I hope everyone here would do the same.
On that note I still believe that for a festival in a new location they did an awesome job of making the weekend run smoothly.
Yea I was in VIP, my main issue with VIP was being trapped in there and having a hard time getting back in late night. It made seeing the campground stage bands pretty difficult. Security were dickks about helping us get back in too.
Most of the problems were in the GA areas. Like I said, I had a great time and the music was badass, but the security guards were pulling a lot of BS all weekend. Don't really feel like beating this dead horse anymore, it's been done on FB and PT for days now.
Those numbers are mighty low. The cops weren't being as "nazi-ish" as some people made them out to be on FB.
I am not talking about the security situation at the fest: I don't know one way or the other if security was thieving or not. I just read alot of comments by people on Thursday that "pigs" were doing this, doing that. Sometimes it gets offensive for me- I know there are plenty of bad cops in this world, but my brother is one and his whole department are good guys, caring people, on the up and up. My brother has risked his life many times protecting people, doing his job. He has seen things that I would never want to see and on a pretty crummy salary! LOL
I think the police were friendly at the fest- they helped us find were we needed to park- and I saw alot of smiling uniforms. I loved Legend Valley, natural amphitheater, great setting. The only thing I saw that I can say for sure that they need to change was the incredibly small campsites. Wow, people were crammed in there!

The funkiest All Good that I have been to yet! The whole weekend had a wonderful flow of music.
Danced on the gravel all weekend. We were wishing it was grass too, but hey we had plenty of room to dance and there was plenty of grass to sit your ass when you needed a break.
There was no "wall of people" that was impossible to navigate through like in past years. As long you stuck to the walkways you could easily access the vendor, portos, and beer stands throughout the show.
The only problem we had in the campsite was the very little space they gave us to camp. We were crammed. But it gave us a chance to hang with the neighbors. Everything worked out.
As for security and bag checks and what not. They are just doing there job. Don't be foolish with your business and they won't hassle you.
