I did try that but only threads for each season were coming up. This one specifically wouldn’t, which was driving me nuts!
We’re about to start the series (Jack’s first time - rewatch for me!) and I wanted to see what my ranking was after my first viewing. It’s been 10 years since I last watched it, which is wild, so I actually don’t remember a whole lot.
I was surprised by my rankings and takeaways on my recent 4th viewing. First time since 2019 also. Thoughts:
Season 4 is still the GOAT but season 1 is closely behind. I think it's just the most well-rounded and most believable. The whole series is grounded in realism but 1 probably the most. Also fun just learning about the characters. I think seasons 3 through 5 suffer from too many threads. Some are great but some ultimately suffer as not as interesting as the others. 1 is just so simple because it focuses on so much less than the other seasons.
I like 2 more and more every viewing, now even more so since I work in shipping, customs clearance specifically, so I really could get into the nitty gritty with the port stuff.
Season 3 goes down the ranks a bit. All of the Hamsterdam stuff with Bunny is still great but some of the other plotlines suffer from being less interesting. Still McNulty's best season/arc.
