I can't find any major bands with Canton on their tour schedule this year, I've checked most of the ticketing websites... any other ideas of where to look? Another thing to keep in mind is how many states have a Canton in them, maybe we are looking at the wrong Canton?
Canton, OH is the biggest Canton in the US, so it's the most likely to have someone big enough to be at Bonnaroo playing there.
I really think the answer is Black Label Society, I outlined this earlier in the thread, but Zakk Wylde got his start as the replacement guitarist for Ozzy back in 1987, he recorded a song on his solo CD titled Between Heaven and Hell, I just can't figure out the canton bound part.

Zakk Wylde opened for GNR on Dec 7th in Youngstown, which is close to Canton, OH:

Gary hasn't suggested that anyone has been correct yet, and I mentioned it earlier. I figured that it was worth mentioning again, just incase he glanced over it.
"Ascension linked to versions of the Sabbath" could mean that this band or artist first received recognition (ascension) because of covers (versions) of Black Sabbath songs. Any artists from/heading to Canton who cover/have covered Sabbath?
"Canton-bound" has to mean that "he/she/they" are future hall of famers. So I would imagine that it's referring to a band that has been around for a while.
This year's inductees are Guns N Roses, RHCP, Beastie Boys, etc... Just to name a few that would still tour.
haven't gotten around to connecting some of those bands to the rest of the clue, but if it really refers to someone who covered a black sabbath song, here are some bands i think could be possible:
marilyn manson the bad plus four tet guns 'n roses moby anthrax system of a down mogwai godsmack galactic meat puppets screaming trees (reunion?) faith no more ween cake flaming lips gov't mule dresdon dolls (they are reuniting for a tour in 2012)

So Marilyn Manson is making the most sense right now.
"Good or Evil?" Well.... that's pretty self explanatory. Some people think he's a weirdo, other think he's ok.
"Canton-bound": he was born in Canton, OH
"Ascension linked to versions of the Sabbath": He's played Ozzfest several times.... but did he get popular from Ozzfest? Or from a member of Black Sabbath's promotion?

i believe you're right. i don't like it but it makes sense to me. wanted to add that marilyn manson covered a song called "son of man" which i suppose could be an additional reference to the sabbath.
If being lazy entails seeing the clue on twitter and jumping on inforoo to share my opinion, then sue me. Don't know who Gary is but maybe I should read everyone's bio to make sure there credible.
