I know everyone is ignoring them, but I am pretty sure it is Jay Z and Kanye West.
They played at Madison square garden together, hence the Offerings from the garden garychardonnay: "You can find the garden in the core of the big apple." -The fact that offerings is plural leads me to think that is two well known people. It could also be a group, but it does not really fit with the rest of the clue. Also, the big apple is obviously NYC and Madison Square Garden has been apart of that for a long time. Also fits the fact that you can't eat any of the offerings from this garden. When he says you can find the garden in the core, it has to be something that everyone would recognize and I don't think the Antlers have connection to that statement.
Jay-Z was called by fans Jay Hova, like Jehova, which goes perfectly with garychardonnay: ""I think you're God." is a bit more theatrical." The theatrics being the diamond hand signal and changing Jay-Z to essentially jesus. -Also, the fact that I think you're god blends with the fact that by fans calling them Jehova, that is exactly what they are saying.
A Jay-Z and Kanye act just fits with a growing Bonnaroo. They diversified their acts last year by including more hip hop and I do not think they would just skip a hip hop headliner. I think ticket sales were too good for them to go back from that. To the people that think Jay-Z was just there, they forget that My Morning Jacket and Iron & Wine appeared at Bonnaroo in close together years if not consecutive years.

Honestly, why use NY as a clue for a band that is basically Swedish? Basically that would mean the artist could be from almost anywhere, which the way these are going could totally be the case.
Building on that, what about: Long Island is part of NY. The most famous beach in the NY Long Island area, Jones Beach, has a famous botanical garden. Offering from the Garden = the Long Beach. "I think your God" is a quote about a dog. The answer is Snoop Dogg.

I'm not trying to be a dick, Miike Snow is the best guess so far, but I really don't think that's it.
Phish just played MSG for yet another New Year's run. During that run, the band played Quinn the Eskimo, a song also covered in the past by folk duo Ian and Sylvia. AC knows that a Phish clue would have to take a leap to solve. Has Phish been ruled out? Can anyone else make this fit better?
I mentioned on page 5... Miike Snow's new album is called "Happy to you" which is an offering (kinda weak). But there is a frickin' song on the cd called "Garden."
People are hell bent on this artist being Miike Snow. lol. While I'm pretty certain they will be there (I like them and I'm going with my instincts on this one) I don't think this clue pertains to them.
If "you can find the garden in the core of the big apple" this clue without a doubt refers to MSG which is at the core of the Big Apple (NYC). Nobody calls Central Park "The Garden" so I think it has nothing to do with Central Park or any other Botanical Garden in the area.
My money is on The Black Keys.
Let's see if GC responds to my question about the Sylvia Plath poem.
EDIT: Just read and article written on Dec 15th, 2011 about how Foster the People would like their music to be the soundtrack for The Dog Whisperer.
Foster the People are playing in Central Park (which could be interpreted as the garden at the core of the big apple) at this year's summerstage and Sylvia is the eponymous dog character of A.G. Gurney's play Sylvia.
Honestly, how many bands have played MSG? I don't really think he would give us a clue that left us with so many options. Your stuck on making MSG the garden just because WTT played there. As much as I would love them to be there it just makes way more sense for the garden to be referring to Central Park (which I'm pretty sure is also at the core of the big apple).
It would also be quite the coincidence that we guessed Miike Snow but couldn't figure out how to link them to NYC, then we find a clue that leads us to the Swedish cottage that was built in Sweden and moved to NYC. Which is exactly what Miike Snow did (their label is NYC based).
I never saw how The Antlers fit all of these clues with a solid guess.
If it weren't for a reference to a play by the same name as one of Miike Snow's most popular songs I would go with Titus Andronicus bc of Shakespeare Garden. But i don't really see them fiiting the rest of the clues.

The Black Keys logic is actually not half bad, but my overall thought on that is the same as for WTT: too big.
I know Gary said there were some bigger names among this year's clue answers, but still. Last year the biggest name we had a clue for was Beirut. They were 28th on the lineup, 26th on the initial lineup. Going from that to the top four would be a MAJOR jump. I still don't think we'll be getting any clues for headliners or pre-headliners unless it's at the very end - if it's in the last day or two, maybe. But right now? I highly doubt it.

Many bands have played MSG, no doubt about that, but how many WILL play within the next few months? 7 and out of those 7 I'd say 3 are possible for Bonnaroo: Bruce Springsteen, Van Halen, The Black Keys - my pick. However, if we consider The Beacon Theater as part of the MSG family then we have a few more including Death Cab for Cutie whose name was taken from the title of the song written by Neil Innes and Vivian Stanshall and performed by their group, the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, in The Beatles' 1967 film, Magical Mystery Tour.
They are in Europe until the 7th of June but who says they couldn't potentially make it to the farm on time for a show?
I think the folks who were looking at The Antlers were on the right track. They have the Sylvia song but folks couldn't make it fit with the offering from the garden part. Well...guess what single by the Antlers can be purchased from iTunes?
"Sylvia (Live at the Orchard NYC)." That's an offering from the garden if I've ever seen one.

What about Calla? They have a song called "Sylvia's Song" and idk how they chose their name but if they're named after calla lilies than that sort of makes them offerings from the garden. They're based in Brooklyn, so if they themselves are the offerings then I suppose the hypothetical garden they come from would be in NYC.
(In case it isn't obvious enough, I don't know a damn thing about them, so feel free to tell me if this makes no sense.)

I like this because:
"Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band" fits in nicely with the concept of "Sylvia"
The Beatles' Magical Mystery Tour contained Strawberry Fields Forever, and Strawberry Fields is a well-known section of Central Park.
BUT
Gary said the offerings from the garden weren't edible (no strawberries) and the idea of Death Cab coming from Europe to Roo in the same weekend greatly reduces the chances.

Wasn't it 2010 clues that included Jay-Z, DMB, and Weezer was also a clue that year as well?
I know it wasn't GC giving out clues that year (right?), but maybe this year, since no big names were in the clues last year, they decided to give out a few clues about some bigger names. I just wanted to say that it is pretty likely based upon the past history of the clues, there could be "bigger names" this year.

Yep, but as you said, Gary wasn't our cluemaster at the time. So not only was there a different person writing the clues, but there was a different person helping us - which I think is more significant. Gary tends to be both more forthcoming and more straightforward with his hints, so we solve more clues with him in charge than we used to. Yes, we had clues for big names in 2010, but most of them didn't get solved before the lineup dropped. And some (like Jay-Z) were in that very last rush - like I said, I wouldn't be too surprised to see a big name clue in the last day or two, but not right now.
We know they have bigger names planned for this years clues, Gary explicitly said so. But I still think WTT or Black Keys would be too big. There's a long way between last year's clues and headliners.
Edit: Oh - and you became a fountain wader because you made your 50th post! Congrats!

I was on team Snow, but that can't just be a coincidence...

I think it does make a difference, I imagine Gary Chardonnay wouldn't make an exception like that when putting together clues as meticulously as he does.
