Man this is tempting, so tempting. I need to win the lottery or something though, beforehand.
HA! I didn't win the lottery, but out of nowhere today the state of Massachusetts deposited a literal crap-ton of money into my account, after finding I was in the right relating to an unemployment claim, but never informed me that I won the case.
Anyone have a couch for me, or room on a hotel floor, etc? I am offering cash monies, obviously. I haven't bought my ticket yet, but am seriously, seriously considering it.

That's very cool.
I don't want to make any promises until I speak with my fellow traveler, but I could use some good festie karma, and have already booked a hotel about a mile from Grant Park.
I have listened to nearly every artist on the lineup in the last couple of days...and I've made some great discoveries.
Any recommendations from your research? I intended to do the same today... but then life happened.
Well, my taste may be completely different than most here. At first look of the linup, I was excited for Black Sabbath, At the Drive-In, Sigur Ros, Afghan Wigs, Twin Shadow, The Black Angels, Tame Impala, Tune-yards, Jeff the Brotherhood, M83, The Shins, Toro Y Moi, Washed Out, Neon Indian, Die Antwoord, Band of Skulls, and a few others but we'll see them at Hangout so I can live with missing them here if there's scheduling conflicts at Lolla (which I'm sure there are going to be several). New stuff that I discovered and dig enough to really want to catch live is Fidlar, Amadou & Mariam, Michael Kiwanuka, and O RAPPA.

The more I look at the lineup, the more I realize it's going to be conflict hell. There's about 25-30 artists I'd say I'm legitimately excited for, not to mention a large amount I haven't even heard of. Hopefully there will be some good after show options but I'm afraid Osheaga might mess with that.
So I took the top 30 of the line up and put them in order of popularity according to the Lolla site
The Black Keys Red Hot Chili Peppers Florence + The Machine Passion Pit The Shins Franz Ferdinand Jack White M83 Bassnectar Avicii Bloc Party Justice Miike Snow The Temper Trap Childish Gambino Calvin Harris Metric Santigold Black Sabbath Sigur Ros Kaskade Nero Wale J. Cole The Weeknd Frank Ocean At The Drive-In Zeds Dead Delta Spirit The Afghan Whigs
KTYWNS!!!! (i know that wasn't your original name but i am not sure what it originally was)
I am totally in the same boat as you, if anyone is willing to give up floor space/a couch/ hell i'll take a bath tub. I am willing to split cost of the hotel room that you are staying at. I can ensure that good times will have by all, shall not harsh anyone's mellow, and will do what i can to help out anyone. Seriously hotel is all that is stopping me from purchasing a ticket now. So if you want to spend less on living expense for the weekend after KYTWNS!!!(he gets first dibs) i am another viable option for anyone!
I keep looking at this lineup, and the only thing that's keeping me from pulling the trigger is the lack of hip hop. I mean, I'd like to see Childish Gambino, but Wale? J. Cole? Come on. Doomtree is good too, but I'd love to see Kendrick Lamar, A$AP Rocky, or any of the other artists who are hitting fests hard this summer.
Does Lolla do additions? It seems like there are about 120 or so on the lineup, whereas last year they were closer to 140.
Juggs your my favorite inforoo poster of all time but your so hot and cold on wale and a$ap rocky it's kind of ridiculous.

How so? I think both have their high and low points, but Wale just kind of feels like a festival retread whereas at least A$AP Rocky is newer/fresher. I don't think Rocky is the greatest thing in hip hop like some do, but I'd be about 10000 times more interested in hearing him than Wale.
i thought i recalled you saying wale was a bitch rapper like j cole then digging his new album, personally i'm not a wale fan at all. then i know you started off liking a$ap then started hating on him real hard and now it seems your back on his side (rally hope a$ap gets added to roo would love to see him). i was just curious
chicken4 and KTYWNS, I just booked a room at the Travelodge Hotel downtown. It seems to be the closest hotel to the park and should be walking distance. It is a bit cheaper than the rest of the hotels in the loop/downtown area too that still have rooms available.
Caddyshaq and I are willing to let ya crash for cheap if you don't mind sleeping on the floor...maybe there's a chair or a couch in there too...I dunno. If y'all are interested in doing this, let me know.
The check-in time isn't until 3pm on friday though. We will probably fly in much sooner than that, grab a taxi over there, and see if we can talk them into letting us check in a little earlier than that. Hopefully Fidlar or Jeff the Brotherhood won't be playing friday, that's really the lowest under cards that will more than likely be playing before the 3pm that I don't want to miss. We decided to fly out of Atlanta instead of Mobile to save us some money ($300 vs $500 each roundtrip).

Eh, like I said, I feel similar towards both. I loved Wale at first, then his first album was terrible, but then he's gotten worlds better lately. Meanwhile, with A$AP I liked him at first, but grew increasingly irritated with all the d*ckriding going on around him - he's good but not game changing, and doesn't deserve near the accolades he receives. So with both I think there's good and bad. At this point, given the chance I'd want to see A$AP over Wale, just because it's a newer experience, you know?
I feel you on this 100%. I'm an A$AP fan but i don't find him to be anything new, just a young version of ugk type rap.
To answer your question Juggs, I don't believe Lolla does adds. At least not from what I remember. There are probably less acts because they've done away with Perry's and distributed those would be performers throughout the other stages in the festival.
For those interested, I found rooms at the Central Loop Hotel for 169 a night. Supposedly it's 1.2 miles from GP.
Where did you find those rates? Are you sure you checked the rates for Lolla weekend (Aug 3-6)? Looks like it's $230 a night to me and they don't have an option for two double beds either....just one queen.

Haha yeah, I double checked dates to make sure I wasn't going crazy, but I should clarify: I bought them at that rate the morning that the lineup came out, so they might have increased rates as people have started gobbling up rooms. I should have checked before posting.
You're right on the queen thing, from what I found online, but I'm hoping I can arrange to get 2 twins if I'm there early Friday. I figure worst case, I get some good hetero male:male spooning in... Sort of like being on The Farm, except I won't be sweating. At least not from the sun.
I just bought my Lolla tix and booked my hotel (even though I live in the Chicagoland area). Kinda sad b/c this means I'm selling my Roo tix. This is my second year in a row missing Roo. Kinda sad about it but Lolla's line up is way better IMO.
And wow, you're like a walking, talking infomercial to turn people away from Pearl Jam and Ohio State, aren't you? Before you started posting here I quite liked Pearl Jam and was indifferent towards OSU, now I find myself wishing that Eddie Vedder falls down a mine shaft or that Columbus is infested with locusts

I was wondering why the EDM wasn't broken out... I thought Perry's was a great draw. Wonder why they got rid of it (probably $$$).

I think it may have been too popular. Last year the tent got overcrowded. Also the whole "tent" thing didn't work well. It got so hot and stuffy on the first day they took half the panels off the ceiling
I'm sure plenty of people entered the gates, headed to Perry's, and stayed there all day. Spreading those artists around makes those people walk around festival grounds, increasing the chance they purchase merch. It will also ensure those people cool themselves off, as well as circulates the crowd. I think it's a good idea.
I'd rather concentrate the EDM derps in one area, but oh well. Hopefully they'll just increase the size of that area for those kids rather than causing them to scatter around the whole festival. Voodoo fest last year was great because the majority of those fucked up kiddies never left the Le Plur stage and it was on the opposite side of the festival, away from all the other stages.
"Well, dance music is a passion of Lollapalooza," Farrell told MTV News. "We have a stage called Perry's that became a tent, and I told them 'Don't put a tent on that thing, it's going to burst at the seams' ... and sure enough it has. We don't have a Perry's tent anymore; Perry's area, however, is in the wide open, under the stars and the moon and you can dance amongst the trees."

I'm glad they're keeping Perry's stage. Hopefully they move it where the Google+ stage was last year. It had plenty of trees for shade. That way the club kids don't have too much fun and have to get carried out.
