Really the only thing i think stopping me right now is Hotel expenses:-( just wish this was a camping fest. Because of hotel cost it just doesn't seem like a festival one can do solo.

I was really hoping for Beck. We are obviously already going to Roo but Lolla is closer for us and would have considered going but the lineup isn't that great to spend the extra $$ on. So many of the same bands are at Roo and I just feel they have the slight edge, at least to our music tastes.
I'm pretty sure RHCP and Black Keys are going to be Top 3 along with either Sabbath or some version of Kanye &/or JayZ. Jack White has 4th or 5th billing written all over it.
When asked if there would be another EDM headliner this year (in reference to Deadmau5 last year), Perry tweeted that there would be 2 electronic headliners this year. That could be Avicii and Justice (although they're debatable as a main stage headliner). Swedish House Mafia is heavily rumored despite one of those button-mashers being overseas the Saturday of Lolla. Based on an article by Kot, good money is on an electronic headliner closing one of the 2 largest stages OR a mid-sized stage each night.
Speculation does pay off sometimes. Don't be surprised if Avicii and Justice are headliners once the schedule drops. I'm expecting some billing anomalies this year a la 2007 and 2006.
I'd be happier with a different Top 2, but that mid-card is stacked. It certainly blows Roo out of the water this year.

Man, this lineup is great. I'd say it's really what Roo's should have been. I will say the top 3 (maybe even top 4) at Roo is better (Radiohead/Phish/Beach Boys>Black Keys/Sabbath/ Jack White, although Sabbath trumps everyone else at either fest), but from there on, Lolla KILLS. What Roo screwed up is not having enough big names at the top. Florence, ATDI, and the electronic acts are huge gets, but can we really consider The Avett Brothers a huge get? Just my opinion though. I mean The Shins are #7 on Roo's lineup and #9 at Lolla, so it's not just me. Also, the inclusion of Franz Ferdinand is HUGE for me. I would skip anyone (other than Sabbath) to see their set. Bloc Party is also sweet.
If this was closer to me, I would love to go, but Roo is just more feasible. Hoping to go to Lolla next year, since I can always count on the lineup being killer, and I'll be 21 by then.
So, I totally did not have the cash for this. I still have my trip to Manchester to fund, which shouldn't be much, but a trip to Mexico 2 weeks after Roo for a wedding that is going to just drain my bank account and make it impossible for me to do Lolla. Fortunately for me, I have a super awesome big sister who is going to spot me for my 3 day pass followed by a ” pay me back whenever.” So ill see you guys at Lolla. Hooray for super awesome big sisters!
And wow, you're like a walking, talking infomercial to turn people away from Pearl Jam and Ohio State, aren't you? Before you started posting here I quite liked Pearl Jam and was indifferent towards OSU, now I find myself wishing that Eddie Vedder falls down a mine shaft or that Columbus is infested with locusts
I'm not exaggerating when I say that you'd have to put extra effort into finding a place that isn't fairly accessible. Especially on Saturday and Sunday, getting around is a breeze. Take your hotel savings and factor in a couple of cab rides, bus fare, or rides on the L!

1 day passes will only go on sale if 3 day passes do not sell out before then Last year the one day passes sold out days before the concert. Sat first, fri second, and lastly sunday just days before the show

If you don't mind a 20 minute train ride in... people should consider staying in Rosemont and taking the blue line in.

That's definitely more than 20 minutes. I'd say if you dont mind 45 minutes to an hour commute. I live on the north side and it takes me about 25 minutes to Grant Park on an express bus at 6am.

Cool, it appears I will most likely be going whatever day Jack White is playing. When do they typically break the lineup down into days?

It is 34-38 minutes per the cta website; still not really that bad.

The top three lines don't do a ton for me but this is still my favorite lineup of the festival season so far. Wow! I live in Minneapolis so it's a possibility. Great job, Lolla.
