I saw JW at Hangout and he blew my quacking mind, and he (in his many incarnations) is one of my favorite current performers; however, I've never seen Justice, and I'm a pretty big fan of theirs and EDM in general. If I hadn't seen JW already this would be an easy decision in his favor... Still leaning his way.
I was hoping I could just see JW again at ACL, but they had to put him on the same day as NYCH (one of the worst conflicts ever), and I have to see Neil I think.
Does anyone care to share their opinion?
The nice thing about Lolla is that it is small enough to see both shows. Start out at Justice and if you aren't feeling it, you can power walk it over to Jack White in about ten minutes.
That's my plan for Ozzy and Bassnectar on Friday. Start at Ozzy and if he is old and boring, then head over and get some bass.
What about any advice regarding the previous day, Avicii v. RHCP?
The presumption is I will go see RHCP but I saw them already at the hangout. Is there anyone who saw Avicii and was blown away? I doubt I'll skip the Chili Peppers but I was just wondering.

Neither. Santigold!
This man knows what's up.
Avicii would be far from my list of priorities but I'm biased, I just get bored by house. If you're into his stuff by all means check him out, I saw videos of his stage setup and light show for his levels tour and it was admittedly really impressive. I'm sure it will be fun and all.
But personally I'd be at santigold, whilst maybe skipping out to RHCP for a min. She's really fun live

Santigold is definitely the answer. I think we are going to do the first 30 minutes of RHCP but then leave for Santigold.
And wow, you're like a walking, talking infomercial to turn people away from Pearl Jam and Ohio State, aren't you? Before you started posting here I quite liked Pearl Jam and was indifferent towards OSU, now I find myself wishing that Eddie Vedder falls down a mine shaft or that Columbus is infested with locusts

Santigold was great at Roo. I was surprised how good actually. RHCP were...meh. But I'm not a fan of their's anyway and seeing them at Roo affirmed that 100%.

I have Gary Clark Jr vs Little Dragon and The War on Drugs vs TEED conflicts. The latter 3 were all at Roo, but I missed all 3 due to other conflicts. Anyone have opinions about what I should see?
GC Jr. over Little Dragon is pretty easy IMO. Unless of course you have tickest to the GC Jr. LN show.
TEED is in my top 3 at Lolla. I have been waiting 2 years to see him live! There will be many other opportunities to catch TWOD. This is the first time TEED has been to a major US Festival. I for one am not missing it. And his new album is great and long overdue.
I also have a question for all the Chicago natives or Lolla vets. I am seeing 2 LN shows at The Congress and after looking at the map I see that its pretty far 10-15miles from Grant Park. Whats the best way to get there? Is there an L route that gets there? Or is a taxi the only way? And will they allow camelbaks in for the show? Really dont want to have to go all the way back to the hotel to drop off my camelbak before heading out.

It's a long a$$ way from the festival, but the blue line should have a pretty close stop. It looks like it's only 4 blocks away. I tend to take the el when I go there. It will take a while. So you might want to leave 45 minutes or so to arrive.
RE the camelbak, I've never really tried it, but they might have a coat/bag check. They do during the winter.
It seems these LN shows start RIGHT as the Headliners finish at the festival. I wish they'd have an hour gap to give people time to get out of the festival and over to the venues, ugh.
Can I just pay cash for an L ride or do I need to prepurchase some sort of card?

If you get to the Congress by 11:00pm, you will most likely have missed the opening act and maybe the beginning of the next act, depending on how late the show goes. The Pretty Lights show went til about 1:30 last year. I've also seen Zeds Dead at a different festival aftershow there, and they didn't come on until like 1:30.
Bringing your Camelbak there is a risky proposition imo, but as was previously stated, there should be some sort of bag check. I would just not feel 100% confident in getting it back at the end of the night. It is a zoo there, particularly for Lolla aftershows. Also, don't even think about hiding anything in your bag. Security is going to dump it out and check every pocket.
You have to buy a card to ride the Ls. It's $2.25 per trip, so just estimate how many times you think you're gonna ride and put that much money on the card right away so you don't have to buy another one.
^ No, if those are the shows you want to see, then you made the right decision. These big EDM aftershows at the Congress are pretty wild and are a great time. You just have to put up with a little bs like security, and 19-year old idiots running around.

Both of the aftershows I went to last year didn't start until well after the festival had ended, but then again, neither was at the Congress. If it's not too far, I would advise walking to your aftershows though. I always had to wait ages for the bus to take me anywhere after the fest ended.
Would a Camelbak w/empty bladder really be an issue? I know the Congress is notorious, but I imagine if you just tuck the entirety of the tubing/bladder into the zip pouch, they wouldn't give you too much grief...
I'm probably going to email/call them prior to the festival and just get some specifics. Or just try to find the answer on the Lolla boards, hate the format of that forum though.

There is this amazing thing in Chicago called the ”L”.
I doubt congress would let you in with a back pack. You'd probably have to check it in at coat check. Idk for sure though. I've never been there for a Lolla aftershow, and have never had a bag with me.
Groupon recently struck a deal with the CTA to offer a 3-day weekend pass that's usually $14 for only $9. I sound like a Groupon salesman but that's actually a pretty good deal, unlimited L train and bus rides for the whole weekend, and I don't think you have to fool with the machines in the CTA (which suck sometimes) cause they'll mail the weekend pass out to you.
The blue line is perfect to get out to the congress, it stops in the loop at Jackson, Monroe and Washington, all within 5-6 minute walks from Grant park, depending on which exit you leave the fest.

I feel 1) relieved that I found this so I can use it in August and 2) kind of dumb that I didn't use it last year. Either way, my feet will be thanking you in two months.

I've never camelpak'ed lolla before, but getting to and from Congress isn't a big deal. Everything is going to be running well on the late side. I remember having plenty of time to stop at a bar for drinks before seeing Major Lazer at Congress a few years back, I also remember it ending so late I could barely stand (I went to a wedding the next day and was in good form).
Keep the thought of leaving a headliner early in the back of your mind though. If you're not on the first wave of people leaving the park, getting on to mass transit outside of Grant Park is a cluster.
