in case any of you are looking for something to do one night, there is a new spot a few blocks from the Division Blue Line stop called Emporium Arcade Bar. 30+ craft beers on tap and tons of 80s-90s arcade games, place is seriously legit!
Came home from work yesterday and my wristbands came in the mail. Everyone else gettin their's?
I still haven't gotten mine. Did you get an email notification or did they just show up?
The only email notification I got was for the receipt for the purchase. They just showed up yesterday. Just the three day though, still waiting on the Friday pass I bought as a grad present.
I also have a question for all the Chicago natives or Lolla vets. I am seeing 2 LN shows at The Congress and after looking at the map I see that its pretty far 10-15miles from Grant Park. Whats the best way to get there? Is there an L route that gets there? Or is a taxi the only way? And will they allow camelbaks in for the show? Really dont want to have to go all the way back to the hotel to drop off my camelbak before heading out.
On Friday, I'm heading back to my hotel on Friday after Sabbath to get dressed before going to dinner. I can hold onto you Camelbak and give it to you Saturday early. I only request that it be free of party favors.
And wow, you're like a walking, talking infomercial to turn people away from Pearl Jam and Ohio State, aren't you? Before you started posting here I quite liked Pearl Jam and was indifferent towards OSU, now I find myself wishing that Eddie Vedder falls down a mine shaft or that Columbus is infested with locusts

Sure. I only request that it be returned full of party favors.

Blue line towards ohare will get you to Congress (California stop) in 20 minutes or so. Just make sure you get on the train before the lolla rush. You can bring the camelback in congress as long as the badder is empty. Security is alway thorough there, so expect them to check you from head to toe.

Sweet thanks for the info man!

All very true. Last year I left Lolla early on Friday night to get to the Congress before the rush for Pretty Lights/ Skrillex. They tore my back pack up looking for stuff. I would also leave the headliners about ten minutes early to get to the train. Sometimes there are so many people trying to get on the train you have to wait about fifteen minutes for a couple to come before you get on. Then by the time you get there, since security is such asshats at the Congress, there's a line down the block. I remember watching almost all of Skrillex last year before the venue was even half full.
Wow noted! Glad to know the Congress allows backpacks though! frank are you seeing any shows at The Congress this year? And how's the view from the balcony? The venue looks gorgeous!

I might... might do Nero. I scored tickets to Gary Clark on Saturday night.
I have never been in the balcony. The Congress' sound system is really hit or miss. I've seen shows there that made my ears bleed and then I've seen shows there with no issues. Personally, when I walk in I always book right, and head all the way down under the "bar" sign. It makes it easier to find your friends. If that doesn't work there are a couple "platform" things right when you walk in. They rise above the crowd and you can see EVERYTHING. Last year my brother and I found them on a return trip from the bathroom, and we walked right in these sections like we owned the place, and got a few weird looks from the neighbors on the platforms. Turns out this was a VIP section. So security are dicks at the doors, but if you act like you know what you're doing when you're in there it might work.
On another note, the venue is not really as gorgeous as the pictures make it seem to be. It's really old and run down. It was gorgeous at one time, but needs a major work, especially the bathrooms. It is one of my least favorite venues in the entire city. It's really quacking far from where I live, impossible to get to on public transportation (unless you live off the blue line), and the neighborhood is kind of sketch. One block is good, one block is bad.

I've got three. One in my crew might drop out. I'll let you know. It's all guest list so we would have to meet up or something. You're going to Forecastle, yes?
I was totally surprised and so happy I got them. I sat at my super slow work computer (I think it might have dial up), loaded the page and ticket info came right up. I literally got nervous and started shaking when I pressed the purchase button because I wasn't sure I still had them.
I missed him both times at roo, once for some one I wanted to see more, and once because I didn't listen to my own advice and partied too hard the night before and I couldn't deal with the heat/sun on the What.
I saw him at BSMF from about 10ft away but missed him at Roo due to laziness and going to miss him at Lolla due to a conflict Def let me know if ur buddy drops out, I'll meet up with you and buy it in a heartbeat!

Got my wristband today!
Very strange that they don't do e-mail notifications. I had no idea what I was opening until I saw the Lolla envelope. I guess I need to start getting more excited.
Def do what you can to see GC JR! Saw him for a few at Jazzfest but it was just too hot and I had to get out of the tent. Saw him on the mainstage at Hangout from the front row....awesome time. Saw him front row at the secret VIP stage set the next day at Hangout....from like 2 feet away it was insane being that close to him!!!
Got tix to Nero/Die Antwoord and Big G after parties.... still havent secured transportation from nyc to chi
Although the airline sucks, check out Spirit. I got round trip tickets from Chicago to NYC for around $150 once. The only problem is that they charge you for EVERYTHING. Literally.
Yeah thatd be cool Phi, PM me your #. I think on Saturday I'm actually going to Lolla by myself and wouldn't mind meeting up. My friend whos going with me doesnt like the line up that day so is just gonna go hang out with a lady friend that he met at Bonnaroo.
Thanks frank, but I just booked a seat on a Greyhound this morning. I try to avoid the airlines for festivals (I need my medicinals, if you know what I mean.)
