Day 1 in the books. My buddy and I drank quite a lot before going in, so I don't have quite as clear a memory of everything as I might like, but it was a great day 1 overall. I split more sets than normal due to my inebriation, but I hit the highlights of the following:
Yellow Ostrich - wasn't as impressed as I'd hoped. Sounded a little light. TEED - really impressed with the energy here. Loved the guy with the enormous spray tank and dum-dums. War on Drugs - good sound... Met some cute females that distracted me from the end of the set Metric - caught Help, I'm Alive and some of my other faves then booked it to... Afghan Whigs - Great, robust sound. High energy. Head and the Heart - good. Low key. This was food/refuel time. The Shins - mellow. But James Mercer is the freaking man. Some kids behind me loved my backpack, so we had fun acting like dinosaurs or some shit (don't ask) M83 - only heard a couple songs, but it sounded good Black Sabbath - heard the first 45 minutes. Enjoyed it, but not being a big Sabbath fan, it was mostly a sit and admire experience, so I left to go dance at... Black Keys - danced my balls off for 3/4 of an hour
Now I'm trying to convince my friend to come out because he's wasted and tired. Food first, and bars soon after. This is the only night we don't have an after show planned, so hopefully we can enjoy some bars. Recommendations welcome.

God bless ya, SoyBoy. A great report; glad you had a big first night!
If you danced your balls off for 3/4 of an hour before the park cleared, then you still have 15 min. of two-ball dancing left, no?
Go strong, lad. Keep us posted.
edit - My brother and nephew are there together, so I've been getting their feeds all night. In addition to the live streams. Looks flippin' awesome!
A bag of dicks? I kidd I kidd I am choosing Band of Skulls over The Shins on the live stream.
Same. The Shins's show at Bonnaroo about put me asleep. I have no need to relive that.
Thank you. They are so overrated it's ridiculous. My buddy and I were at DeLuna last year in full-on rage mode, and we left a Papa Grows Funk facemelting session to go see them before Jane's Addiction.
Good lord, what a disapointment. We watched them for about 10 minutes tops before leaving. We decided that the Shins are good "walking away music."
Afghan Whigs and Sabbath were massive highlights. Crowd and sound ruined Passion Pit. Same for M83, which was a real disappointment. Sharon Van Etten was solid. Dr. Dog was a fun way to get the day rolling. Shins were perfect for decompression. Overall, a good day!!

saw Ambassadors, The Growlers, Yellow Ostrich (which someone got proposed to at!), The Black Angels, Tame Impala, The Afghan Whigs, The Head & The Heart, The Shins, and Black Sabbath.
TH&TH and the Shins were great relaxing music while I rested for Sabbath. Also, met Passion Pit at the autograph tent, which was pretty cool!
Today will include JC Brooks & The Uptown Sound, Doomtree, JEFF The Brotherhood or Bear in Heaven (will be a last minute decision), Moon Taxi, Neon Indian, The Temper Trap (maybe, could possibly be recoup time), The Tallest Man on Earth, Franz Ferdinand, and RHCP
