Ok, thought vomit:
36 Mafia (syrup as in syzzurp juice as in juicy j) *doubt the clue would have a druck reference Snoop and Dre (Gin is syrup?) Damon Albarn/Flea/Tony Allen super group Rocket Juice and the Moon Mary J Blige and Method Man
Actually the more I think about it, Mary (merry) J Blige and Method Man did the song "I'll be there for you/You're all I need" so that could factor into this.
edit: Just spotted the above mention of this connection
Congratulations has song called "Juice and Syrup"... at first I thought this might just be a confirmation that we got another clue correct but maybe there is still some kind of Congratulations tie to the artist this clue is about?
Okay how about this... Congratulations has a song called "Juice and Syrup," MGMT has an album called Congratulations. MGMT are also known to cover "Teenage Lust" by The Jesus and Mary Chain.
There you go, alberto. Jesus and Mary Chain it is.

Syrup and juice are things that go well with breakfast anyway.
And I can't help but think of Christmas when I read "merry"... there's a reason its merry and not Mary. But then I'm NOT the merry to your method. So we wish you a ..christmas?

maybe the syrup and juice is an oil and water type analogy. I'm not the merry to your method may still reference MJB and MM, so "not merry to your method" would build on that, not love songs but something more caustic.
glad we went down this road, now the consensus will be that it's MGMT.
i really hope it's mgmt. i know they're '09 show was lackluster although i didn't get to experience it, had too much fun at volta that day. since then I've caught them 3 times live and all have been awesome shows. really hope roo gives em another chance.

There show in 09 was definitely not lackluster. Easily one of my favourite shows that year!
In the song Orange Juice by EarlWolf from the OFWGKTA mixtape Radical, rapper Tyler, the Creator describes himself: "Sip sizzurp, Supreme on my shizzirt, I munch a bunch of tacos with Waverly's favorite wizard" OFWGKTA=the new WU Is Tyler considered the Method Man of his group?

Syrup and juice. I'm not the merry to your method.
Syrup: could be breakfast maple syrup, could be, ahem, sizzurp.
Juice: plain old orange juice? Gin and juice?
I did like what someone up above did with Mary J. Blige and Method Man, that makes a lot of sense to me. I also think that, using the syntax of the first sentence, it is likely that we are talking about a two-part act... like Snoop and Dre. Or Kanye/Jay? Make that happen, someone.
How about Lil Wayne? Syrup and Juice-He was addicted to drinking cough syrup with coedine mixed with juice. I'm not the merry to your method-Method Man and Lil Wayne do not get along at all

Purple drank is codeine and sprite or other soft drink. I thought it was codeine and juice too.
