Left NJ early wednesday morning, got there at around 10pm and was set up by 11ish. I have no clue what road my group of cars took, but we were in line for about half an hour, and as we went in we saw the line on the highway that went on for as far as we could see
This is what we do. Load up the car. Go to the bar. Have a couple drinks. Sit around and sober up. When they call last call pounce onto the backroads. Easiest method if you live in Murfreesboro. I like to park close that way I can get to tent only faster. A couple of people I know have a predetermined spot they camp at every year because there is always one of those lights that operate off a generator. They just plug into it. Apparently they know the roads so well they can just jump out of line when they get in and drive right to it. I will never do it and don't recommend it to anyone else.

has anyone here that has used the backroads gotten a spot close-ish to centeroo? i feel like if you go through that back entrance you'll be stuck in BFE for sure.

Well, 2010 we got there maybe around 1ish Thursday morning & didnt get in til 8 or 9ish.....that really sucked...but we were pretty close so that was nice.
In 2009 we got there probably somewhere between 11-1ish on wednesday/thursday and got right in and set up in BFE
In 2007 we left late wednesday night & got in line probably between 4-6 AM thursday but didnt get in & set up til around Noonish.
In 2006 had a longer drive & really dont remember when we left or when we got in.
In 2005 met up with friends around Chattanooga & got in line around 8ish AM Thursday & got in & set up super close by 10 am
In 2004 (1st year) had no idea how crazy roo was. Got in line around maybe 3 or 4 pm on thursday didnt get in & set up til 8 or 9ish.

I'm still pretty n00b to Bonnaroo, I've only been once before in 2010 and had a not so fun wait. I don't know if anyone else on here got caught up in the OMFGWTH?!? wait. We drove up on the line heading up I-24 north a little after 4:00. A freind who'd Roo'd a few times past had told me ahead to expect it to take 3 hours or so to get in once we got to the line. 7+ hours later we shut off the RV engine at our camp spot. May 1/3 Mile from the Archs, not a bad location.
I really want to try and avoid that wait this year. Listening to you folks makes me think showing up early Thursday afternoon might be the best plan. All I'm worried about is that there will be no room left in Tent Only camping.
First time to roo, driving up from Birmingham, AL. Thinking I'm just going to take the interstate bc I'm an awful navigator/ driver and would probably die taking the back roads. Leaning towards driving the 3hrs to Manchester on Thursday, leaving bham around 10 am so we'll be all rested and chilled out. Would getting there later theoretically decrease line wait? To my understanding BFE is filled up first (not guaranteed, I know) so this would get us closer? Does this sound like a godawful idea? Sorry if these questions have been answered, I didn't read all the pages. Thanks!

I am coming from Atlanta airport, at around 11 or 12. About the same drive. Meeting friends from Alabama who would have left at about that time as well. Worked last year, no line and great spot. Hoping this holds true this year.

Gettin' to 'Roo in the later afternoon should decrease your time spent in the line to get in. But no guarantees. I would say that BFE is still probably filled first, but it sure as hell beats Super BFE which is where I was parked after arrivin' Thursday afternoon last year. Parkin' is really just a crapshoot any way you look at it.
I would love to know these back routes that are alluded to but not ever really disclosed. Figuring them out is tougher than finding a Horcrux.
I am very familiar with the area, and they have all the back-roads (unless you count 55) blocked off. The entry into the vendor area would probably be quicker, but you'd never get through there.
In 2010, I got routed out to Asbury Rd, got in quick but was placed on the far east side of the farm....long hike in.
As an earlier poster stated....just remember four great days follow whatever hassle you are going to endure....

We got there early wednesday last year and sat around with quite a big group at the Bear Creek Winery until the gates open. Got put all the way back in Pod 1 Camp Pussy Galore i believe..long hike. long long hike.
I came in midday Thursday because I couldn't get off work Wednesday. Coming in from the north, they shunted me down to the Pelham exit and back up. No wait whatsoever.
Being parked in BFE didn't make up for it. It might be worth a wait to get closer to Centeroo. The problem is, there is no rhyme or reason to it that anyone has figured out. It's like hitting the lotto.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
I'm sorry if this has been addressed, but i'd imagine they are opening up on Wednesday again right? Does anyone know this?
My group of Friends departed from Philly area around 12 in the morning on wednesday. Made great time and missed traffic in the D.C. area which was great. Got to stop and get lunch/alcohol/supplies at walmart (not all at walmart). Then got in line i want to say around 3:00-4:00. Would've made great time getting in too, but freaking friend had to sell his extra ticket which caused us to have to jump in line. Had to wait for about 3 hours i'd say to get in, but wasn't upset at all about it. The adrenaline was kicking in at that time knowing that i was about to experience something that would be amazing.
First timer here with a question for the veterans - what do you think the wait would be with a very, very, very early Thursday arrival (as in 4 or 5 a.m.)? Thanks

We got there early on Thursday morning last year (about 6 or 7). We waited for several hours, but it wasn't too bad.

Last year was my first roo, left New Jersey at about 4pm on Wednesday and was in line by about 6 am. We waited about 3 hours, which was was filled with alternating naps and high-fives from people trying to catch up w/ cars after getting out to pee. We were in and setup by 10 and a 5-10 min walk to centeroo. I know as a noob I haven't experienced the horror of roo waits much, but I kinda enjoyed the wait. It was like the hill before the first big drop of a coaster, so much anticipation and excitement as well as a chance to nap in the ac for a bit longer.
Well, our plan this year (12 hour wait in line last year) is to arrive around 2 or 3 PM Wednesday, accept the line and delay, and hopefully get set up Wed before dark...have a nice, sane, quiet night to relax and settle in before the party starts.
I wonder if they didn't close the gates last year around 10PM Wednesday, as we sat in line all night, didn't get to the gate (very very slow progress) until around 10 the next morning. Line didn't really start moving again until around daybreak Thursday.
Never did catch up on that night of missed sleep. Hopefully better this time around.
Left Toronto around 8:30 Wednesday morning. There was a lot of construction on the highway once we got past Ohio and went through Kentucky/Tennessee. Adding in stop overs for food and gas, and we didn't get to the farm until just after midnight local time. We ended up in a long, long single file line, which resulted in about a 5-6 hour wait to get to our campsite. We didn't get in until I'd say 7:30 Thursday morning. The good tihng is that the campsite we got was right off the main road, and was about a two minute walk to Centeroo. It really is a crapshoot.
I'd say if you're really concerned about timing, to maybe get a hotel room in nashville tuesday night, so you have a nice, easy drive to manchester the following afternoon. the only reason i'm not doing that is because of cost and everyones schedule.
We're coming from Minnesota and was thinking of taking I 65 south from Nashville and hitting Manchester from hwy 55 instead of taking I24.... any thoughts?
Anyone have any idea when cars started piling up on I-24 last year, or when is the earliest they let you start lining up to go through the exit 112/Highway Tollbooth entrance? I'm afraid of getting there at 6pm Wed. and finding a 10 mile line already.
