Great show in Clearwater at the Jazz Fest on Sunday and it was only ten dollars. They did a really cool version of Shady Grove at the end of the show. Tomorrow in Gainesville for round two. Every time I see these guys I appreciate them more, they are really outstanding live.

I got to check out their taping of Crossroads with Randy Travis. I think it airs mid November. It was pretty awesome. I'm curious to see what makes it to television.

Was it a full show with them backing Randy? Did they play any Avett songs? Any details on this? I don't care much about Randy Travis but I heard about this show.

They did 3 songs by the Avetts and 3 songs of Randy's. They did February 7, January Wedding and I and Love and You. By Randy they did 3 wooden crosses, digging up Jones and something else. They covered a Bob Dylan song I didnt recognize and also played Dueling banjos. It was cool to see them play the songs a couple of time to get good takes. Awesome time!
I was more so impressed with the lighting of the room. Ive never been to a professional taping like that before.

They played Always and Forever last night in Gainesville, they wrapped up with that and Shady Grove. It was maybe the best I've ever heard them sound, kinda undersold too.

I just saw them in Huntsville and it was by far the best out of the 6 Avett shows I've seen. They are just so talented and always put their all into their live shows.

I love that song "Digging up Jones". He was a good guy. R.I.P. Jones.
Is anyone going to the Red Rocks shows? We'll be going to night 2 with Old Crow. So excited!!! We've never been out west (we're in Ohio) and are going to make a big family vacation out of it and hit up all the sites. Taking the kids with us too.

We're thinking about it. It's a long trip/flight for us so if we go we'll probably do both nights. I think PTM would be great at Red Rocks too.

I'm going to this show. I got two tickets for the 2nd night right when they went on sale. We are also making a family trip out of it even though the whole family (my parents, their dog, me and maybe my brother & his wife/son) won't be going to the concert. We got reservations to camp at Chatfield State Park. If my dad can get more time off work, we might go up to Montana and Wyoming and camp at Yellowstone the week after the concert. Not sure of that yet. Anyways, it's my first time seeing The Avett Brothers and my first time at Red Rocks. I'm so excited! Unfortunately, this means I probably won't be going to Roo but that's okay because I don't like many of the rumored bands so far anyways.
That February Seven trailer makes me even more excited to see them!
Wow! Your first show and Red Rocks! You are in for a treat! I've heard that the Red Rock shows are just magical. I guess last year there was a shooting star during the show. Have you seen Old Crow? This will be our first seeing them but our 7th or 8th seeing the Avetts. I'm not sure if we'll be doing Roo or not this year. It's really hard to get babysitting that long. We'll see when the line-up comes out.
We talked about heading north from Denver but decided to go down to the Grand Canyon and meet friends there and head home through Albuquerque, OKC and Memphis and see the sites there!
I'm very excited about the Feb 7 trailer for sure! Did you see the new video out yesterday if Scott singing Froggy Went a Courtin'? And don't forget they are on Letterman Monday night. I bet they'll sing Feb 7.
