Previous years they never made you empty the contents of your camelback, and I usually try to go to a line w/ guy and flash the pearly whites!
Again, it all depends on who you get. Plenty of people were allowed in with camelbacks that I saw and talked to. Some guards/searchers are more strict than others or sometimes the "boss" may be around so they have to be on the up and up or something.

I'm such a goodie two shoes that I usually empty mine when I am close so I am ready to go. I don't want to be told to dump it. I couldn't say how many of those times that I would have had to if I hadn't already!
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Before the linuep came out, they actually had a picture (illustration) of wrist bands somewhere on the new Bonnaroo.com website. They were similar to the ones pictured in the Moogfest earlier in this thread, or the ones used at ACL. CLoth with a small plastic square that holds the RFID chip. I am certain they are going to this type of wrist band. OR possibly they pulled that picture because they aren't??
I hope they do because the nice cloth design is a great keepsake!

My first Roo was 2010 and I digged the cloth bands. Wore mine till I HAD to take it off. Then 2011 rolled around with those poopy plastic ones and I took mine off within a week. Uncomfortable pieces of crap. A cloth band with a RFID integrated in the cloth would be a huge improvement
They have never made me dump out my camel bak. Never even been asked about it. I just turn my camel bak around and wear it on my chest when I get close to them. Unzip all the compartments except the reservoir and they are usually so pleased with me having it ready for them they hardly even look inside it.
Yeah, that never happened to me. I did the same thing and they always had me unzip the pouch and show them. I always left it empty since my walks are never so terrible that I couldn't just drink a beer on the way in and fill up the Camelbak inside.
As for the RFIDs, I remember having a hard time telling if my thing scanned and if you do it twice, they have to manually check and make sure you aren't reusing someone's band. I started telling the people in line behind me to yell if the light was green since I couldn't hear the buzzer thing.

last year my wristband stopped working twice, which ended up eating a good two hoursish of time while i waited to get a new one. such a bummer - i hope they switch to the RFID clothbands like others have said.
and in terms of dumping water, they never made me do that. i even had a squirt bottle full of water i never had to dump. but also as others have said, it truly depends on who you get. i, too, just flash a smile and try to breeze on through nonchalantly.
Hopefully whatever they get this year will have a more durable chip that can stand up to the conditions at Bonnaroo. From the heat to expsoure to water, sunblock and lots of dirt those wristbands take a beating. There was always a long line of miserable looking people at the wristband trailer waiting to get new wristbands after theirs and failed.
Mine quit working Saturday night on my way out of Centaroo. They didn't make me get a new one on Sunday though so I was lucky. It was still a hassle each time I went through though. It does make you feel like you are doing something wrong.

I never leave camp without a full camelbak, and follow this method. I have never had to dump mine either.

Last year the guy at the entrance didn't put the wristband on me and i had to reach across and scan my wrist. That was kind of annoying. They should put the scanner on both sides to avoid this inconvienice. I wouldn't imagine it to b a problem, right?

I've never had any difficulties...I think they are just trying to keep out the glass, weapons (hope they are not on site) and stuff sold inside (protect the vendors)....my experience is that everything else is 'glanced over'.
The bracelets...if that's what it takes to get me within a mile walk of some of the best musicians on the planet for four days....not a problem...
I too missed last year, but was reading that they scan those each time you enter and exit Centeroo, is that true? If so, how sucky was that?
Actually it would seem to be a pain but I dont remember being held up at the entrance too long it was pretty orderly and they had alot of entrances/exits to walk through. I don't think we waited at all to get out. I think people actually try to take their bands off and throw to people over the fence that didn't pay and this stops that. I am thinking that is what keep the prices so low(well for ga anyway) for such a big festival.
One creepy / cool thing bout them was the Facebook updates. It seems when I registered my wristband on Bonnaroo.com (optional) I signed on via my Facebook. WELL, everytime I entered Centaroo it would post a little status update on my Facebook that I'd just entered Centaroo. It was kinda neat actually. My friends who couldn't come would post jealous comments.

That's actually pretty cool. Didn't kno they did that. I wouldve come home to a lot of angry messages
I like the cloth wristbands better as well. Last year they put my wristband on to tight and it started cutting in to my wrist after a while. Very uncomfortable. As far as dumping camelbaks, I have never had this issue but my friend did. I guess we just got a d!ckhead security guy.

Walk in holding your beers up in the air and stare down at your pockets like you are ready to get patted down. Amazingly I got away with it everytime last year. 2-3 Cans each time in.
