Walk in holding your beers up in the air and stare down at your pockets like you are ready to get patted down. Amazingly I got away with it everytime last year. 2-3 Cans each time in.
One creepy / cool thing bout them was the Facebook updates. It seems when I registered my wristband on Bonnaroo.com (optional) I signed on via my Facebook. WELL, everytime I entered Centaroo it would post a little status update on my Facebook that I'd just entered Centaroo. It was kinda neat actually. My friends who couldn't come would post jealous comments.
This. I had no idea that it was doing it. Most left jealous comments, some yelled at me as to why I posting my check-ins so much. "Yes, we KNOW where you are!!"
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

That applies to the arch and other entrance/exits too. If you miss a scan you may get pulled aside; if this happens, try to remain civil as they sort things out. The people with the handheld scanners can disable a bracelet if they feel someone is being unruly.

Bumping this but it did look like it went a bit off from the title. I sort of hated those things, what ya think? BTW, for the above sensory dep posts. Did that for a year. I thought it was interesting but it didn't "blow my mind" ....
I actually didn't mind last year's bracelets and when I forgot to scan out they would just double scan my bracelet on the way back in next time or just not scan at all. It was never really a big deal.

I had no issues whatsoever with the wrist bands last year either. No problems scanning in or out. And I'm pretty the gov't didn't use its locating abilities to track my movements. But I can't be sure.

I didn't have any problems with the wristbands last year, but one of the guys in my group had his fall off Thursday night in the middle of the field between Which Stage and This Tent. We got unbelievably lucky by both noticing it immediately and finding it. Went up to tent near the arch that was helping people with problems, and after some waiting got he got it taken care of. But it could have been really bad, and almost ruined the night, or maybe even weekend. After we got back to camp, everyone duct-taped the weaker looking parts of our wristbands just to be safe, and we will all be doing that first thing again this year to avoid any possible trouble.

does duct tape count as an alteration of the wristband? just curious.

I have no idea, to be honest. But no one ever said anything to us about it. Really we just taped the loose end to the rest of it so we wouldn't have anything dangling that could be pulled or in case the little black plastic clip failed it would still hold the wristband as is.
I may try that too. They seem so hardcore about the writsbands on the website. It's like happy fun ball on SNL back in the 90's. "don't taunt happy fun ball"
How does this scanning in and it work?. The last time I went was in 09 so I guess I am not familiar with this process. Ae there people there with scanners and lines to get out of centeroo?

You basically just walk between two panels and rub your bracelet against it. It beeps, you walk in, thats it!

Oh ok! Just make sure it beeps I guess! Sounds easy enough I hope I am not to quackery to remember to do this! I am sure this could be a problem in certain states!

Don't worry, if it doesn't beep, they will make you do it again.
