We got pulled over in NJ after ROO on our way back to MA. If a cop asks permission to search your car, say no. If they had probable cause, they wouldn't ask permission.
This is exactly what I did with the cop, I didn't give him permission, he asked us out of the car questioned us separately and we were on our way without getting the car torn apart.

i feel like they harass young rooers and cars with multiple people in them. the road cops seem to look at packed cars and vans - from what i see pulled over
as an older rooster.....they dont give me a second look - dont even check my car at the gate. i also go in with someone with an accessible sticker and i think that they leave us alone for that reason as well. im not THAT old but they dont even look in my stuff when i go into centeroo. i dont have anything on me - but they dont know that. i take in lotion, sunscreen, toilet tissue, a pack, water etc and they never even look at it to see what it really is. i just dont think i fit the profile.
i doubt that you need to worry about ethnicity in this case - i think that being young is more of a disadvantage.
i hope none of that comes off as negative. i love young rooers. im very sad when i see a car full of 20's pulled over with their stuff all over the side of the road. i know people save money to go to this thing and i realize some college aged students (and others) sacrifice to go to roo. its very sad to me that they cite people.
my advice when you get about an hour from roo is to put on a shirt and shoes.....look alert. air the car out a bit. put anything questionable in the trunk or out of your reach. put your refreshments away til you get in the line to get into roo. dont speed. dont pee beside the road. if you get pulled over be POLITE and cooperative. stay calm.

@ gainsb
I dunno man. In my experience if they are truly intent on searching your car, they will. Typically that means bringing out the dog if you don't give consent. They have the dog sniff around the perimeter of your car and if it "hits on something" they have probable cause and will commence to tear your poop to pieces.
They can tell that the dog has hit on something if it wags it's tail, or starts panting, or stops panting, or scratches its self, it might turn around and look distractedly in another direction, all sorts of signs can tell them it's found something to give them probable cause.
What's security's stance on hookahs? If the base isn't glass is it cool? I read on the site you're not allowed to have charcoal unless you have a grill, but if I hide it....? Anyone have any experience?
i brought my hookah last year, didnt even consider them taking it because of the glass and charcoal. i had it laying in the back and it got in no problem. however, my cousin wasnt happy because some of the shisha leaked into his trunk

the past 2 years none of us have been over 21, putting 2 or three people per car, and they usually dont even search through our car at all at the gate. just give us a quick glance and ask if we plan on selling corn. (knock on wood)
this year there is 12 of us and we'll probably come in riding in a 15 passenger van with another car for belongings, and it really sucks to read that they seem to pick out vans... and seeing as we'll be a van full of people (none over the age of 22) i imagine we'll be prime suspects. although i would think that they would want to avoid the hassle of tearing apart a 15 passenger rental van, and the belongings of 12 individuals, and instead pick out the 4 wooks in the rusty sunfire, but maybe my logic is flawed.
I haven't been able to find an answer to this anywhere, but we are planning on bringing in some alcohol with us. It will be cans and within the allowed amount for one person. The thing is, I'm the only one who is 21. There will be a 19 and 20 year old in the car. Is it possible there could be an issue with this? Even though I will have only enough alcohol for me according to the rules?

^ Seems like it would get old carrying a six pack of water around. But, i'm pretty sure you can bring in as much water as you'd like as long as they haven't been open. I'm using a camelbak this year because i'm sick of trying to keep up with a water bottle.
Sorry to get off topic but I too am bringing a camelbak for the first time this year because I'm tired of carrying around water bottles. I know that it's usually hit or miss as far as them making you empty out the camelbak so would I be better off bringing a couple bottles of water from the cooler and then just dumping those into the camelbak once I get into centeroo? I want to avoid the long lines for water as well as have it as ice cold as possible.
They officially announced a bit ago that they are doing away with the automatic dumping of full camelbaks in favor of a "sniff" test for booze.
That is SUCH a good decision. In Centeroo it'll cut way down on the lines around the filtered water stations, but it'll also help people stay hydrated outside Centeroo because they'll be carrying full water bags instead of empty ones.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

How strict is security on SLR cameras? I'm bringing in my Canon T3i with the kit lens, which I assume will be fine. But if I try to bring in my telephoto lens (about 6-7 inches long), will that get confiscated?
Moderators are going to love me for sharing this... time for some more negative "Awesome Points" I guess, but anyway here is the best way to sneak vodka into centeroo.

Anyone who gets their items confiscated by anyone other than the police are foolish. You are just unable to enter with these items. You can turn around and take back to camp or make another stab at entry.

Well I guess if you get through airport security...
I spent the night in the airport meaning. I arrived at 8:50pm Wednesday night and took the shuttle out 9am Thursday morning.
So, if I were to meet up with a corn salesman or any other type of salesman I could meet him at the rent-a-car place at the airport with the goods, and get on the shuttle the next morning.

this is all hypothetical of course.
I don't know "big time drug smuggler" is a big step up in craftiness just one year from "wait did the instructions say to not put that wristband on"

I've heard it's hit and miss with the DSLR's depending on how well your bag gets searched. Their policy is NO cameras with detachable lenses - period. Including the kit lens. If the lens comes off, its not allowed unless you have a press pass.
We have the older version of yours - the canon xti but we didn't attempt to take it into Centeroo because I didn't want to have to walk it back to camp if we got caught with it at the gate. Which is a good thing too because we were camped in BFE.
We did have the camera at camp though and just used our iPhones for pics. But this year we bought a $200 Canon point and shoot that we'll be able to take in with us. It takes nice pictures too and is actually higher megapixels than the xti.

Exactly. They would never suspect me. mwahahahahahhaa
With the DSLR it's a pain in the ass. I work for the media and have a press pass which works fine around the stages. But one year the media parking was full and I was directed to the day parking and had to come in through the same gates as the public and even with a press pass I had to raise Cain to get a supervisor to approve it.
So what's the final word on glow sticks? I know they aren't allowed into Centeroo, but will they get taken away at the gate? On bonnaroo.com it says they aren't allowed, but I brought some last year with no prob. I'm planning on buying a bunch soon so I don't want them to go to waste.

If my SLR gets denied at the gates (not centeroo), will I not even be permitted to bring it into camp? I'd hate to have to get back in line on the highway if I had to go run to a post office somewhere to ship my camera home or stash it somewhere.
I'm thinking I might be better off just sticking with my phone and my point and should sony cybershot.
