So how to separate the two? Extra ingredients in the two. While a plain pancake or waffle can be delicious, the real money is when you add things such as bananas and pecans, chocolate chips, any type of fruit, etc.
This is where pancakes excel in my opinion. When putting these ingredients into a waffle iron, they often become smooshed and possibly burned if they're exposed to the direct griddle. Pancakes lovingly embrace the ingredients your heart desires. They are the perfect transport medium to your stomach.
Someone might bring up the fact that the craters in waffles offer the perfect receptacle for your toppings. That person would be wrong. It's a known fact that the extra ingredients are better when cooked into the breakfast treat, as opposed to simply being placed on top last minute, as if you just remembered you didn't want a plain waffle.
So that my friends, is why I changed my vote and am now proudly part of Team Pancake.
This might be the most well informed post I have read in some time. It is correct on so many levels, the most basic level being that pancakes are better than waffles.

It wouldn't be a debate thread without a debate! 2 for nutella, 1 for no nutella. So far... nutella is winning! And hijacked the pancake/waffle debate.

^If you can't get behind the idea of warm, delicious Nutella dripping down the sides of a stack of pancakes/waffles, I don't think there's any swaying you. That's a hurricane force wind right there, and you're standing strong like the Great Wall of China!

I've only ever had it on toast, a bagel, & instead of peanut on a pb&j. I'll use my cheat day to try it on some pancakes.

Its Spring Break in these parts. Insipred by watching Chopped, late last night I decide to cook a big breakfast for the kids as a treat. While I am not a waffle hater, clearly what happened next can only be done with pancakes. I mixed the pancake batter but added about a cup and a half of vanilla yogurt to the batter for better texture and added flavor (and to have one less container of near expiration yogurt in the fridge). Then I thought my god how awesome will this be in the morning when I top these off with the blueberry sauce we still have left from Cracker Barrell. Wait, who wants to try to clean up three sticky kids in the morning before going to work? Solution... add the blueberry sauce right to the batter. Boom. We now have blueberry vanilla honey wheat pancakes and kids that will have big smiles. Winning! Tiger blood in my veins. The wife sees me making pancakes at 11pm and what happened next should go in the Jenny and Chico thread. Parents with big smiles. All of this love and laughter provided by... the pancake. Sorry waffles but pancakes got me spontaneously laid. Waffles are Robin. Pancakes are Batman.
