that's a very good way to put it sassbox!
I agree.. bonnaroo is like a huge buffett of all types of "foods" from around the world and the country!
Like a 4 day feast in my eyes... I think Superfly booked the bands that they did because they want to shake things up a bit, and they're certainly taking a risk, and I really respect that.
Well, I hope your wife changes her mind because one band does not Bonnaroo make!
Of course, it would probably help your case if people would just stop trash talking both sides of the fence. A lot of us aren't Metallica fans (or Jack Johnson fans or Allman Brothers fans or [insert band name you don't like here] fans).
There are at least 30 bands on that lineup, before the additions, that I am really looking forward to seeing. Can she really not find anyone to be excited about or is it just Metallica overshadowing everything? If you were eating at a buffet and they were serving brussels sprouts, would you never eat at that buffet again?
I guess she just really hates Metallica. I totally cracked up when you mentioned buffets. she hates buffets even more. ;D She's a indy girl and there could be a few additions that would turn her around. I have as much fun people watching at Roo as I do listening to the music. If they added The Cure it would be a slam dunk! Fat chance
Well, I need someone to talk to Erica (formally messedupgirl) and make her see that one band will not spoil the whole weekend. She is stuck on the Metallica thing and can't get excited about the rest of the lineup. I really want to go, but I'm not going to make her if she's not into it. I pray some of the additions will light her fire a bit. All those who don't want to see Metallica can come over to our camp site and put down a few. Well, that's if we go. Man, 2009 is too long to wait, I need my ROOOOOOOOO!
are there any other fests you would be willing to go to? the roo isn't for everyone and it's clear that a lot of people are disapointed this year. Maybe you guy could compromise and go to a different one this year? Or choose two smaller fests? Or go to bonnaroo and whatever fest erica wants to go to?
I love bonnaroo too, but if you need a little time away from the farm for whatever reason or another thats fine too! it's good to experience different festivals

She wants to go to Coachella, but that's way too far and I'm not crazy about California. We have 10k lakes here, but neither of us likes Jam Bands that much. I think what it will come down to is, a few additions will pump her up a bit and we will end up going. At least I hope so. I just like taking the trip to Tenn. It's beautiful down there and its nice to get away from Minnesota for awhile. Oh and of course, being around the great people from inforoo. ;D
I love brussels sprouts and I don't like buffets or Metallica, either! In all fairness, I did listen to some yesterday and I might even be at the very far back of the crowd for a song or two just to see what all the fuss is about firsthand.
Biglou, I have a list of 45 bands I'd like to see even before the additions. I'd be happy to share it with your wife if you think that would make a difference. Heck, even if that list was cut in half I am still expecting an amazing time.

I found a list that she has where she highlighted 15 bands. I know there are bands she wouldn't mind seeing, she is just not crazy about any of them. She was so excited about last years lineup. She was also totally recked that we missed 2006. RADIOHEAD! I think two great years worth of lineups would have made this years weaker one easier to take. I will turn her around and get her to go. It may take a bit of wining and dining to do it. Oh and bit of a** kissing. A man's got to do what a man's got to do.
I've been on Rhapsody listening to music with which I'm not familiar (and some which I knew but didn't realize I knew because I didn't recognize the artist's name). In any event, good luck to you!
If Metallica are good enough for Rodrigo y Gabriela, then they're good enough for me! (I couldn't decide in which, of the 35 lineup BAWWWWing threads available, to post this so I chose the first I saw.)

To me, seeing Metallica on the lineup and immediately deciding not to go is like getting to a question to don't know the answer to on a multiple choice exam and just stopping there. You can always skip the difficult ones and come back, or if you have a high enough score, just leave 'em.
Well these ar my thoughts, this Will be my 5th Roo.....I'm going, gonna bring my good vibe and try to spread it everywhere I go.... 5 or 6 years ago, I wasn't really interested in jam bands at all, Until I went to Bonnaroo.. I listened to stuff I had never heard of, some I liked, some I didn't. I am from 15 minutes away.. Now I wont miss it, the people I meet, the people I camp with and around make for a great time....Now, I'm sadder knowing that a bunch o cool mofos aren't going because of 1 band.....But you know, I don't care so much, cause there are like 15 other acts as of now that I am stoked to see.......Maybe you folks will come to your senses and come...Maybe not, I hope so, but you will be missed.....However, I will still be there with my Have a Willie Nice Day shirt on.......havin a Prime Time

sheesh. talking about me right in front of my back. i never said i didn't want to go at all. i said i wasn't crazy about the lineup. yes, i'm disappointed that metallica is playing, but that wouldn't stop me from going if there were other bands that i really really want to see. but right now, there isn't a band on the lineup that makes me say, "damn! i can't miss that show!" i said i was going to ponder the lineup and wait for some additions. and that's what i'm doing. so don't try to "convert" me to bonnaroo please. *SIGH*
