NIN won't be there. If Trent Reznor does play, it will be with How To Destroy Angels.
I'm thinking Green Day. The third of their forthcoming trilogy of albums comes out right around Coachella, and supposedly they were asked to play in 2009. I'm not too keen on the idea, but I could see it happening.

The possibility of that makes me happy headliners don't play unopposed.

11 months away and you think you have it nailed..
Also, the board (except for a few) doesn't really hate on other fests, they're just picky. The only true hate I have seen is for Bonnaroo. I don't think they're jealous outside of the beer, late night / longer sets and less conflicts. I love Bonnaroo but they need to step it up a little. There's a reason why 2 weeks of Coachella sold out a year early when Bonnaroo is still trying to get rid of tickets just weeks away. Not hating by any means. I rather have it less crowded myself so in a way, Bonnaroo wins that even though it felt more crowded last year than any fest I have ever attended.
The fest argument is stale. Attend them all if ya can. Good people, music, vibes, and art shouldn't ever be the source of an argument.

it's because coachella is a scene. not that i wouldn't go or anything, but people just want to be at coachella regardless of who's playing because it's the thing to do.

It's an established festival that gives a great experience every year, lots of people love the lineups, it's very close to a huge metropolis. It's easy to cast it off the way you did, but you know it's more complex than that.

Nailed? Nope. But I'd say there's a REALLY good chance that at least half of those bands will be billed. It's really common sense ya know? Whose touring? Whose available? Who has a new show/music? Oh, and buzz bands who weren't booked the previous year (like Alabama Shakes, Dry the River, and Graffit6 who I expect in 2013). It's a year long riddle and since I'm a high school English teacher I really don't have anything else to do with my time. I pass out busy work and think about festivals. That pretty much sums up my day.

I just don't think they have classic rock in their booking strategy after the non sell out in 2009 (at least I don't think it did). Roo has had them both twice in the same time period.

I could put money on Stone Roses playing the Pulp slot from this year. (penultimate mainstage, 1 hour) If Blur did play (which looks less and less likely every week, although they did play Coachella 2003), they would play the Refused slot. (Outdoor Theatre, 1 hour and 15 minutes.)

Post Roo depression has been leading to pre-Coach excitement for me! I was so spoiled this year, miracle weather both at Roo and Coachella weekend 1. Let's start the positive thinking now.
We WILL get good headliners, we WILL have nice weather.... if i keep saying it, it comes true right?
some part of me is hoping I can go by some miracle for the 2nd weekend but reading that the 2nd weekend could be a ton hotter isn't helpful...but 2nd weekend is my bday weekend... (Friday April 19th)
The heat really wasn't that bad weekend 2. Friday was ridiculously hot due to there not being a breeze, but Saturday and Sunday were fine. It is hard to catch early sets at the outdoor stages, but tent sets are fine and night time sets are obviously no problem. I managed to wait from around 5-10 to get a good spot for Radiohead on the hottest day this year (Saturday) in a ridiculously packed crowd. It was pretty bad, but not terrible. Although two people fainted on me and I saw at least 10 people get crowd surfed out of the crowd after fainting...

I'm sure it's like the 'Roo, weather's gonna do what it's gonna do. 7 days don't make that much difference. The weather could be reversed in 2013.
