2009 was insane with the storms on Thursday. Had to retrofit our entire "shade system" with duct tape, twine, and wooden stakes because the poles had all bent. But it also kept the dust down all weekend... and we had stashed everything else in the cars so nothing was completely ruined.
On the other hand, the storms that came through in 2006 during Phil Lesh and Friends made the festival for me. The rain started right before the second set and people started clearing out...we were able to move closer as the band ripped through Shakedown> Jam> New Speedway Boogie Feedback> Caution (with Joan rap)> Other One etc..
The band played to the rain and the energy increased through the end of the set to the point that no one cared. One of those classic bonnaroo moments for sure.
Ahem....ever think that lots of rain just might make getting a better spot easier?
My best musical moment was in rainy 2002, standing in 6" of mud watching Neil Young from about 6' away. Probably would not have gotten anywhere near that close on a nice, dry day.

Yeah the storms on thursday night in '09 rocked the place. Luckily our shade structure only broke in one corner and with the aid of some new friends and good ole duct tape it survived and has been back twice so far and is ready for this year as well. Not a bad design we created with metal framing and a 24' x 40' tarp. I love storms anyway so one here or there is ok by me.
