ok so this looks like a pretty decent lineup if it wasnt so far away. although if they can get lostprophets up there i will probably be there. ive gotta see rooftops live. but theyre are supposed to be more headliners announced so fingers crossed. i just now found it looking for modestep tour dates so anyone who's been some input on how u felt about it would be nice
I went the first two years - and got lucky and grabbed two of the Groupons for this year. I agree on the first wave - but I heard at the Umphrey's Bowl last weekend that Umphrey's is gonna be playing this year. I hope that ends up being true.

Did anyone else see the Facebook post where the just locked down some one "big." I wonder who that is... Big Gigantic is already playing Lolla, doubt they can play both.
I will be there, was so much fun last year! But will be finding a place closer this year. Chicago isnt an easy city to get around when you are all messed up. Any Pretty Lights show I will be at, the worst part is the Congress doesnt let in anything so walking from the fest over is such a hassle.
They've already got 2/3rds of Swedish House Mafia, so I wouldn't be too surprised to see them added at some point, unless the third member has something going on that weekend somewhere else. And rynoia, you are right on the Congress. They had the most invasive searches I've ever seen last year during the Disco Biscuits LN. They made my friend take his hat off and felt around the inside for a secret pocket. That place also was hot as Hades.
Congress has come under some heat lately for it's security. When Bassnectar played there recently, he even refused to use their security and provided his own.

Unfortunately, I have a feeling we're getting Tiesto
I could see them going Swedish House Mafia. They did say they have a huge announcement. Its either Daft Punk or SHM hahaha.
Im not a fan of the people that put on the shows, they have a club called the Mid that gets horrible reviews. Im not from Chicago but looked at going to an after party and read nothing but bad things about that place. I wont go to the congress again unless its something like where the security is different. Last year I sold my set of Theivery Corp tickets because of the security. The festival is one thing but after shows where they do all that shit is way out of line.

Second wave is promised to be EPIC! I'll probably end up buying my 3-day pass once that's released. This fest is definitely worth the money. Perfect size in my opinion, easy to get around, and they even have a Silent Disco too! rynoia is right about it being hard to get around the city when you're messed up though.. the el is right outside the park but thousands of people are trying to get on it at the same time and hailing a cab will probably be difficult right after the fest ends as well. but if you leave a little early/wait for the mass of people to die down after, you're golden.
i also do not suggest going to the congress for an aftershow if you're already messed up... they're not good people. only been there a few times but i have my share of horror stories, my favorite being when a security guy barged into the stall while my bf was taking a leak (wang still out and everything) was extremely rude and did a full body search on him.
"EPIC" is the name of Eric Prydz's new tour/show. Could be him. I don't know if he'd be considered a blockbuster though like the way the organizers are making the second wave seem.
Second wave of artists "middle of next week" according to their Twitter.
^ Swedish House Mafia is too big for this fest to be honest.
^^Also, Eric Prydz is playing Wavefront and Skrillex is headlining Spring Awakening, so while that doesn't rule them out, it probably makes them less likely.
Yeah I just saw Eric Prydz is playing Wavefront, I think that's a relatively new addition. Not bad for a tiny fest on the North side of the city.
I have a friend that works at a daily deals site based in Chicago that will remain unnamed and she said before they offered their deal, she was told Girl Talk and Kid Cudi will be in the lineup. My baby brother saw Cudi twice and he said he came on stage so faded he could barely sing.
GT is a total personal taste thing. For me, he's not the best. He's also not the worst. Depending on the sound system, his set could be super high energy or it could fall flat. I saw him last year at the Hangout in Bama and it was middle of the road stuff, definitely not face melting.
Umphrey's is also a huge buzz this year. They're playing a fest in Somerset, WI near Minneapolis with Pretty Lights and Big G the weekend before. I'd say there's a high probability they'll be playing a set at NCMF.
Umphrey's McGee Knife Party Paul Oakenfold EOTO Digitalism Chuckie Tommy Trash Yelawolf Future Rock Boombox Digital Tape Machine NiT GriT People Under the Stairs Savoy MR MFN EXQUIRE Zebo Strange Arrangement Gentleman Hall NORdjs
Gotta agree those aren't "epic" adds, but I liked seeing Umphrey's, Knife Party and Oakenfold, who I've never seen, added. I've heard there are two other nice adds coming soon.
My friend sent me this. Add Girl Talk and STS9 to the mix...
sts9 and girltalk, check.
i was told by a guy at summercamp that sts9 was playing northcoast and doing an afterparty. i didn't believe him or you that they were playing. I guess im gonna have to try to get to chicago for my bday, heres for hoping for some tribe on saturday sept1st:)
