I'm picking my buddy up at the airport in ATL. He is flying in from Seattle where he has lived the last few years. I'm worried about him and the Roo heat.

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! No alcohol til the sun goes down (hard, I know, but much worth it). Wear a hat. Take breaks if you feel like you need it. Most of all, tell him to listen to his body. (And don't bust his balls if he wimps out on some daytime shows)
I think they probably meant 106, but regardless, with humidity at 90%, your sweat is not evaporating. Drink water, but pour some cold water on yourself from time to time as well.

that kind of forcast leads me to believe there will be POP up thunderstorms that are so common around here. they can be small or large and seem to appear out of nowhere, but offer a MASSIVE cooling effect and many times are very short lived. anyways, I wont believe a forecast till the week of. It was very hot here this weekend but not too humid so it was bearable out in the yard all weekend.
Regardless of which site is more accurate we're not going to get any meaningful predictions 8 or 9 days out. I wouldn't put too much stock into any of them until early next week. Monday or Tuesday should give us some decent predictions and I'd look at several different sites (WU and NWS for me) to see if they are predicting the same approximate temperatures/rain chances.

As a Washington native myself, (Spokane) it is quite the adjustment, but the good vibes and good people make you forget about the heat! Hope to see all you guys at camp inforoo!!
im looking at that weather underground site and it says for the friday during roo the heat index is going to be 131 degrees. so they are saying its going to feel THAT hot. that just so insane it cant be right. I do not trust this site
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

I'm not sure I've ever heard of a heat index that high, at least not here. The highest heat index I can remember is about 110-115 and that's pretty rare. Bonnaroo at it's hottest has had a heat index of 105-110.

I called weather underground and had them put that high heat index in there just to fuck with you guys. You notice it's only on the days of roo?
Yeah, I double checked with the National Weather Service and then redid the math myself. It is accurate. The problem will be that we have NEVER had that heat with that high a humidity before. Also, remember, Heat index is set for the the shade with a light breeze. In the sun, tack 15 more degrees on.

We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
I wouldn't sweat it. There is no way any of these sites can accurately predict what the humidity will be like a week from now, and that's one of the main factors for determining heat index. They all seem to have the temperature in common though, which is ~90F, so it just remains to be seen if it'll rain in the days leading up to Bonnaroo which will affect the humidity factor.
Predicting the weather is tricky business. There's a reason no one has come close to perfecting it. Conditions are constantly changing so anything more than a few days out is just a best guess based on current weather patterns.
