This has already been mentioned by Dave, but may have been missed by a lot of people and it's pretty important information. I checked with a mod and was cleared to make a new dedicated thread for this topic.
Here's Dave's post from the "Confiscated Items" thread:
They officially announced a bit ago that they are doing away with the automatic dumping of full camelbaks in favor of a "sniff" test for booze.
I was reading through the new Bonnaroo Festival Info section on Bonnaroo.com and was surprised to read:
WHAT IS ALLOWED INTO CENTEROO/MAIN VENUE:
Water bottles or Camelbaks containing water only (clear, non-glass containers only) Non-framed backpacks and bags (subject to inspection at venue gates) Low-seated concert chairs (i.e., sitting less than a foot off the ground) Blankets
I'm proud of Bonnaroo for changing this policy. I hope the volunteers are adequately informed. Spread the word to everyone you know that's going. This can go a long way in helping everyone stay hydrated and healthy. As well as cut down on the amount of plastic water bottles being thrown away (recycled).

Awesome news! I don't mind drinking the sulfer water, so I didn't wait very long last year, but the lines for the filtered water were OUTRAGEOUS at times.

They should put signs up as you approach the pat down to have your bags and camelbaks open and ready for searching and sniffing. I've always done that with my backpack and it really speeds things up. (Put your backpack on the front if you instead if your back.)

I agree. I have been waved through several times when using this method. This should be common knowledge.

This is REALLY going to knock down the lines at the water stations. I also hope it saves a person or two - or dozens - from becoming dehydrated and potentially seriously ill. Bravo Bonnaroo.
Because of this I just went and picked up a (knockoff) camelbak at wal mart. Seems like it's going to be much nicer than dealing with carrying water bottles around centeroo.
this is a smart move on their part because it was hard to get water at times the past two years. those water stations are too overcrowded and its a dangerous situation. they dont even sell liquor at roo so i dont get why they are so wild about the camelbaks. i guess you can drink beer out of them but that sounds gross. arent most people drinking water or booze in those things?

What Sarah and ZTO said - Swing your backpack/camelbak around to your front when your'e waiting in line, and get all the zippers open, and ready to show your camelback contents. They'll take a look and wave you on in. Sooooo much faster.

No, they don't sell liquor at 'Roo but you can definitely bring it on the camp grounds as long as its not in a glass container. So its mostly a check to prevent people from mixing up liquor drinks (or filling it with beer, blegh! ) and bringing it into centeroo. just like with most festivals/events... its a money thing
I use them when I bike and put them in my camelback to keep it cold longer. Lasts much better than ice. But that's not possible at roo. So just throw in some ice. It will last a little while, and won't hurt your bladder. Unless you bought it at Walmart
Haha, I hope my $30 wal mart camelback will hold up for the 4 days. I'll be seriously disappointed. I'll be ordering one of those ice trays for hiking and what not if my bladder does hold up.

Probably the same one i bought a couple years ago. Mine's held up just fine ever since! Seriously no reason in investing in an expensive one, unless you want a bigger water supply. Seems no matter which one you get from walmart, they all have the same bladder... Just give it a test run and make sure there are no leaks in it before ya head off! BTW, the only problem i've had with 'em is making sure you got the threads on the cap lined up perfectly every time you tighten it up or you'll end up with swamp-ass

Yea it's Outdoor Gear brand or something. I filled it up once already, no leaks. Good to know!!
I'm imagining they are just the troughs and not filtered water stations, but that is totally cool with me. Water is water, and if you need it bad enough, you can get it in plenty of places.

I was amazed at the lack of people using those troughs. I would always stop by the one near the cinema tent/which stage and wash up a bit and cool off with it. Almost always there was nobody else around.
