A couple of our friends won tickets and a condo at the North Mississippi Allstars show saturday night after answering some Hangout trivia questions. They picked like 5 or 6 people from the crowd randomly for the trivia contest. These same friends won tickets to Buku the same way. Lucky basterds.
I'm volunteering at Hangout and I need a ride from Arkansas, anyone able to help me out?
When are you trying to get there?
We're leaving from the natural state but we're heading out tuesday so we can get some days on the beach before the crowd arrives.
Dude that would be perfect if I could leave then! When I get down there I'm either going to have my brother who lives in Pensacola pick me up, or I'm going to stay at the Southport campground....so all I would need is the ride down there, and like I said I could help out with gas money for that.
I'm starting to think there won't be a Thursday thing this year.
I still think there will be. I'm thinking that Tortuga festival that Huka is also producing may have something to do with the different attitude this year. It's so close in terms of time that I think they may have spread themselves a little thin. I'm supposed to interview AJ Niland any day now, but it's been like that for the past several weeks, so I don't know what's going on. I'm thinking that they still have some irons in the fire, and that's why I haven't gotten the interview yet. Last year, he waited to do it until the day they added Edward Sharpe and it popped up while I was on the phone with him. So Huka prolly wants everything sealed tight before they do any press. That's what makes me think that the Thursday is happening, or they are just overwhelmed.
And WOW, Chavez, you may be on to something there. That's perfect routing. They may have been closer than we thought.

I'd be happy if they added James Blake, but I'm not sure if HUKA would think it would fit the vibe of this fest. It makes sense to me though...baby makin' music on ze beach, amirite? Something different though for sure. He's playing Atlanta on the 14th and then nothing after that until July.

There will be a Thursday kick-off party again this year. I just heard for them about media passes and that's what they told me. I don't know how great or big it will be yet, but I/we should find out details soon.

What's the best way to get to the beach from the airport (pensacola or mobile)? One of the girls in our group will be flying in Friday afternoon due to work obligations. Are there any kind of shuttles or is she going to have to rent a car? I see there is an enterprise and hertz in gulf shores.

Also curious when the schedule comes out.
I haven't heard of any shuttles being set up yet, but tell your friend to try and fly into Pensacola. Airfare is almost always cheaper and it's a lot closer.

92zew is promoting a contest for free tickets to the pre-party. Hope we get the lineup soon.
my plan Friday: Breeders > Toots > Jim James > Grizzley Bear > chill in condo and listen to Passion Pit from balcony > Anders Osborne > KoL (ugh) Saturday: Brassft Punk > The Werks > Public Enemy > tBLSO > Gov't Mule > The Roots > Black Crowes (probably half from balcony) > Assnectar > Tom Hetty Sunday: Best Coast > Grouplove > Moon Taxi > chill in condo and listen to Ellie Goulding from balcony > moe. > Yeah Yeah Yeahs > couple songs of Bloc Party > TAB > Stevie
I'm pumped about the schedule!...ALSO, to anyone reading this, if I could get a ride from Arkansas (or even like Memphis area) to get down to Gulf Shores on like the Tuesday or Wednesday of Hangout week then I would be eternally grateful..I would also help with gas moniez.

I wish they would move big gigantic to conflict with KOL so I can see anders and no KOL at all. The Shins/Big Gigantic/Anders conflict kinda sucks considering they are 3 of the very few bands i actually wanted to see on Friday.
What a way to close the festival though, TAB > STEVIE!!!!
Also, I noticed that it said "More tickets released!!". I hope this doesn't mean that they expanded the capacity past 35k...but that's what it's sounding like.

They're probably not going to even sell 30k tickets this year. Have you not been paying attention? Their fb page has been flooded with people selling tickets for under face value for weeks.

I'm pretty sure the limit on tickets comes from the city, not the festival, and it's been the same limit every year. From what I've heard, 35,000 is the most the local departments (police, fire, etc.) "say" they can support.
