Party of 35-40 in two neighboring houses on East 1st Ave near the Waffle House
Dang! How do you get that many people to commit? It's all I can do to get 6 people to join me. (Once they come they're hooked of course) but I'm impressed and a little jealous. Maybe I need some new friends?
I'm down for a meet up prior to Breeders or Jim James. (See above for needing new friends)
On a more positive note, the Conscious Alliance is doing another food drive at the Hangout this year. I always try to get one of their posters bc they are always way better than the lame official posters. You can buy them with cash as well if you want to contribute that way.
"We are happy to announce we will be teaming up with Hangout Festival to host an ‘Art That Feeds’ Food Drive in beautiful Gulf Shores, Alabama from May 17-19, 2013. All food donations will benefit the Bay Area Food Bank in Theodore, Alabama.
All patrons who donate 20 non-perishable food items will receive a FREE oversized Hangout Festival poster created by Christian Jaxtheimer! Food donations will be collected at one of the Conscious Alliance ‘Art That Feeds’ Gallery, which will be depicted on the Hangout Festival guide and map.
Conscious Alliance always encourages food donations to be low-sodium and health oriented products. ORGANIC food donations are especially encouraged. RAMEN NOODLES will NOT be accepted for the free poster.
Thank you for your continued support in feeding the hungry everywhere the music plays!"

Me too. I'm VIPing again. Those air-conditioned bathrooms are HEAVENLY!! Are you doing a repeat VIP?
I won't know until friday morning. As of right now the black friday $50 ticket is all I have, but I am looking to score a cheap VIP bracelet upon arrival and selling my regular one to a friend.
Just checked the 10-day forecast. Highs in the low to mid 80's and lows in the mid 60's, next Thursday through Sunday. Highest chance of rain is 10%. It doesn't get any better than that.
So you're in the long-drive club, too, I'd guess. We're breaking it into two days. Doing most of our driving Wednesday, so we can get down there Thursday for the pre-party.
we are going down one day haha, we have four people and driving isn't bad. we are staying at gulf shores state park
any idea where we can park and walk by the festival? trying to not buy a shuttle
There are lots of paylots as you approach the T via 59, I usually use these. If you get down there early there is street parking down side roads of of 59 (I think 2nd ave in particular), but if you aren't early these roads get packed very quickly, and even if you can still find parking the walk from your car to the hangout can be long.
I just bring extra cash and pay $10-20 to park right near the hangout.

we are volunteering, so we have to be at hangout by 8am, so how long is the walk from parking on the street?

If you are there that early free street parking should be super close for you, like you'll be able to see the Hangout, just a few minute walk. Unless for some reason things have changed.

That Conscious Alliance poster is a must-get for me! I love it. And it kind of relates to an in joke with my group because I've been teasing one of my friends about him late night dancing with sharks in the surf. Perfect.
We picked up our wristbands and pre-party dickets today. Glad that's out of the way. Also, just noticed they updated the schedule for thursday and are going to have acts play on the BMI stage too: lineup.hangoutmusicfest.com/events/2013/05/16/
What's up with that 4th VIP area near the pink pony?
I dunno. It might just the alternate entrance to the VIP area for the chevy stage and is there to show that only VIPs can go through that path. Normally the beach is so packed during the chevy closer that it's a real pain in the ass to get to the chevy VIP area and that is an alternate way to go/leave from there without having to plow through a bunch of people.

Ah. That makes sense. I remember during cheese last year that area was a pain. That area just kinda sucks anyway.

yeah Chevy is easily my least favorite stage. The sound was much better last year than in 2011, so I'm glad they fixed that, but its still a hot mess overall, and still not loud enough.
It's funny, how at some fests the second biggest stage is considered the worst and to have the worst sound (think Which at Bonnaroo). The beach is a bit more narrow on that end, but the way the VIP is set up is just not as conductive with the protected dune placement and all. It's an odd setup on Chevy side. However the best show I've ever seen at Hangout )My Morning Jackey 2011( was on that stage.
