Above the registration code on your wristband is a number which i am assuming is the ticket number, three of mine are in the 88,000 range and one is a 33,000, If it is the number we could faily easily get a ball park estimate of how many people are going to roo this year. hopefully this thread dies off fast but in the meantime....
What number is your wristband???? lets see who has the lowest and the highest... GO!

They printed 100k bracelets/tickets so my guess is we could have numbers all over the place and ur won't mean anything. I got something around 55k. I'd say 70k this year.
From Facebook: Very few General Admission and VIP tickets remain for this year's Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival and sell out will happen soon. Act now, and you won't miss out! Remember to only purchase your tickets through bonnaroo.com
I was looking back at 2010 and on their Facebook they said a few days before the fest you could purchase tickets at the radio station. To me this refutes the conspiracy people who think it's too much coincidence when Roo announces a near sell out in late May. I'm thinking that if it sells out it will be an actual sell out. If not then you can get a ticket in Manchester. Either way, they must have close to 80,000 sold this year.
When I see
"Very few General Admission and VIP tickets remain for this year's Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival and sell out will happen soon. Act now, and you won't miss out! Remember to only purchase your tickets through bonnaroo.com"
I just see that and say it's marketing. They could have only sold 50,000 tickets, and they would still say that. It just seems like they want to create a mad rush out of things, and people who are on the edge about actually buying a ticket, will see "We're almost sold out!!!!" And just quickly buy their tickets.
It's also possible that they had little success with selling tickets through the radio station, so instead of doing so and selling maybe a few extra tickets, they decided the extra publicity they would get from announcing a sell out is far more important.

k2boarder36, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul

Great skit, but this quote could be put to much better use in the Lil B 2013 thread.....
They are a business - for all intensive purposes - if they can make more money by selling tickets at the radio station, they are going to do it. I have had firsthand experience in that line, as recently as 2010, and I can vouch that people did indeed go there to buy tickets.

Obviously someone has never taken Marketing 101.
Building a brand can sometimes be WAY more valuable than selling a few extra tickets. Just think about how much money companies pay for advertising; selling out is free positive publicity. Especially in the increasingly competitive festival environment; does Bonnaroo want to be the only major fest. in the US that doesn't sell out?

The farm can hold 100k, trust me. What I've gathered from the higher ups while working is that if they hit the 70k-80k mark, they consider ticket sales a success and a "sell out," when in reality they'll just keep filling up the farm with as many people as they can.
Last I heard from my bosses, ticket sales were doing VERY well, so expect an 80,000+ crowd, and don't forget the 5-10k people in the staff and volunteer areas.
They are trying to get that final estimate of tickets. It's business economics most basic principle, supply and demand. Say you are almost out - sell some more tickets.
You guys don't understand. Kboarder has taken a freshman marketing class. Dude has paid his dues tenfold. Now it's time for him to take over as CEO of Bonnaroo.
Actually, I'm going for my PhD in Business Economics. I teach freshmen marketing classes.
But regardless of my background, it irks me when people have nothing to bring to the discussion but attempt to bash someone else's opinion (not referring to you).

They do cap attendance at 80,000 and stop selling tickets if they hit that. Case in point:
Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival shared a link. May 14, 2011 GA Tickets are officially sold out! We still have a few VIP tickets left that won't last long. Thanks to everyone for your support, we're excited for another great year!
I realize none of us truly know how it works, but some of y'all just have straight up bunk info.
They had more than 80,000 last year, I don't understand how this proves otherwise.
I'm constantly involved with Site Ops and I've heard the admins and auditors give out actual attendance numbers over the radio or in passing, and there was more than 80k last year.
Ashley Capps was a very happy man last year, and he is this year too.
This thread has a lot of misinformation in it. First off to buy a Radio Station ticket you have to have a license from Coffee County or a surrounding county. In 2010 when it was not sold out regular traffic could buy a ticket right before the toll booths on the way in. Last year when it was sold out you could not buy any on the way in, or at the radio station unless you were a local.

Just a tad unnecessary. I award you no points and grant you an attitude adjustment.

The radio station thing came from this post on Bonnaroo's Facebook. I fully believe you about the local thing, but that wasn't mentioned in the post so hence my confusion:
Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival shared a link. June 7, 2010 Buyers beware! Avoid counterfeit tickets and only purchase through bonnaroo.com or the official Bonnaroo Box Office at Fantasy 101. See you all on Thursday!
If they are not requiring you to be local this is the first year, also I am pretty sure roofan told me they did not have very many, this could easily have changed though.
You said they keep filling the farm as much as they can and don't "sell out", but they announced a sell out three weeks prior to the fest. Hence the retort, my man. Given that they've sold 90,000 tickets in the past, are you saying they sold that many last year? It was quacking crowded in there so I wouldn't doubt it. Also, are you talking tickets sold or number of people on the premises (e.g. workers, bands, porto cleaners such as yourself)? I appreciate the inside info that you've culled from listening in on other peoples' convos without full context.
I really do appreciate it though. It's interesting to hear this stuff.
Like I said, how does this prove that they "sold out" at 80k? I gave out a few new wristbands myself last year, it wasn't any different than the previous five years in terms of getting tickets at the gate. I was personally involved in a new ticket purchase last year at the west toll booth. I was told by supervisors (as usual) where to direct people for ticket purchase. It's all news to me that they announced that there would be no more ticket purchases, even though it was business as usual in terms of directing people where to go for getting tickets.
By the way, I wasn't listening in on those convos, I was a part of them. I have a radio, that I constantly use to relay information to my supervisors and Site Ops. When I ask "did we hit 80k yet?" and a returning toll booth supervisor responds with "we hit that 6 hours ago," it's much more than listening to a convo with no context.
I find it strange that they sold tickets at the gate at Bonnaroo, but directed people to Manchester High School to pick up will-call tickets. You would think they'd do those at the same place.
Not saying you're wrong by any means. Just commenting that it's strange.
I smell a troll. You could've stated your opinion in a way that wasn't asinine and mean, but instead you chose to be insulting. That kind of behavior won't earn you any friends here.

Ugh dude I completely agree. That was 99% of all arguments I was involved with last year.
Person: "So you're saying you have wristbands in that trailer 50 feet behind you, but I have to go all the way to the freakin' high school, and then sit in traffic AGAIN to get my will call ticket?" Me: <nervously> "Yes....I'm so sorry.." Person: "I'm going to murder your soul when I return."
Sorry if that was you last year, I felt so terrible for all of you.

I beg to differ. klimfactor and jdhill88 both liked it
I also find it interesting you have the need to grant 'attitude adjustment's, yet are unable to have anyone grant them to yourself
