Game Play In the small, friendly music community of Bonnaroo, a crafty Mafia have infiltrated the population.
Every day, the population (all live players) gather to discuss whom they think is a member of the Mafia. There is a vote, and the one with the majority is executed. The Townspeople must do this in order to clean Bonnaroo of the Mafia and restore its peaceful vibe.
Every night the Mafiosi decide amongst themselves who to ruthlessly assassinate. At the beginning of each morning, people learn that one of their own has been killed.
Through disrupting the votes and performing their assassinations, the Mafia will try to eliminate Townspeople to the point that they are in the majority and they will rule Bonnaroo forever.
Thus, the Townspeople's great hope is the Inspector. This is a secret figure, known only to him or herself, that has inside information on the identity of the Mafiosi. S/he can covertly use this information to influence the votes towards the Mafiosi. But s/he better watch his/her step, because if the Mafia gets wind it will be lights out.
Good luck.
Rules 1) The Referee randomly chooses from the 11 players three Mafiosi and one Inspector. All the rest are Townspeople. Each player is informed of their role via PM, and are not allowed to share that information with one another except in the official Mafia game thread. The Mafia are informed of one another's identity, and they are allowed to converse among themselves via PM. To put it plainly: a) If you are not a member of the mafia, do not discuss the mafia game outside the mafia thread with any other player or with any non-player who might discuss the game with a player. b) If you are a member of the mafia, you may discuss the game freely among your fellow mafia only. Do not discuss the game outside of this thread with any non-mafia player.
2) The Inspector is informed of his/her part, and also of the identity of one randomly chosen Mafia player. The inspector may at any time reveal their identity to the players within the thread. (see game play warnings above).
3) Each day a vote is held for the player to be eliminated. For online play, deliberation and voting is combined; thus, you can vote and explain yourself in the same post. Every player is free to change their vote at any point up until the last vote is in and the Ref declares that voting is closed. The Referee will then post the final tally, and announce which player is eliminated and how they died. Then will begin the Night portion of the round.
4) During the Night, the Mafia decide on the player they want to eliminate (assassinate), and inform the Referee via PM. Once the Referee receives this info, it is posted here in the thread, the player is eliminated, and the following Day begins.
5) Likewise during the night the Inspector will PM the Referee and guess one player's Mafia status. The Referee will respond with a 'yes' or 'no' answer.
6) Play continues until all the Mafia have been killed (Townspeople win), or the Mafia out number the Townspeople (Mafia win).
7) Player roles will not be revealed until the game has concluded.
8) AKA The Bek Rule: Players who have been eliminated are still welcome to post in this thread, but are asked to not say anything leading to any knowledge, suspicions or opinions you might have. This includes use of the Like/Dislike feature.
9) The ref will do the death stories/videos.
10) AKA The kdogg Rule: There will be no sharing of role PMs inside the thread or outside for the purpose of disclosing your role to another player. This also goes for password sharing. Common sense should be used, no discussion of your roles, except between Mafia, outside the thread - EVER.
11) Voting will be open for 36 hours each round, or until everyone has cast their vote - whichever comes first. Voting will never follow the 36-hour rule on the weekends. The Referee will only ever close voting on a Saturday or Sunday if all players have already cast their vote. If a player has not voted by that time, their vote will not be counted. If a player misses two votes, they are out of the game regardless of how good your reason is. When it is decided that a player is out, they will be killed off during the day alongside whoever would have been killed by vote. a) If the Inspector has not made a guess within 36 hours during a Night round, the Inspector will forfeit that guess. b) If the Mafia have not reported a whack victim within 36 hours during a Night round, the Mafia will forfeit that whack and the Townspeople will receive another round of voting during that Night round to offset the missed whack.
12) The Referee shall neither answer an Inspector's inquiry nor execute a Mafia's chosen victim until after having received both the Inspector's inquiry and the Mafia's chosen victim. If the Inspector is the victim, the Inspector is not owed an answer from the Referee. The Referee shall only accept victim names from living Mafia players.
13) AKA The Bacon Rule: The bigger the whiner, the smaller the wiener.
Players:
KDogg Mike D WLViking Nic Quacker EAP NBF SFA Bacon MC LLL
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
A lot of weird voting for a first day. Time to get this party stared!
Viking >>>NBF >>> SFA
For Luck
For those who I haven't played with before, I am 4-0 when I vote for SFA day 1 for luck and 0-1 when I do not. Ergo, I am voting for SFA and intend to move my vote as needed. I know it makes me look suspicious, but I am Irish and I believe in things like luck.

Was wondering when this would happen. Late night folks.. I has hit the Roo wall. Last update for tonight. Help on tally appreciated.
That last game gave me an idea for the basis of casting my Day One vote.
Specifically, I was thinking that Day One wordiness can be suggestive of guilt. Watching Viking & Bacon a game or two ago got me thinking about that. What they made me decide to do was narrow my Day One vote down to the three wordiest players.
We know there's usually a division of communications in Mafia. There's usually a spokesperson-type one, the quiet one, and someone inbetween. I figure if you focus on the wordy players, there's probably a Mafia in that share of the Townspeople.
Right now, that would be Viking (90,) NBF (42,) and Mike D (34.) Though I concede I'll be in the lead once this post is finished - count me in with The Loud Ones in the following breakdown.
Those three, and probably myself now, would be The Loud Ones. The Quiet Ones include LLL, EAP & Quacker. The In-Betweens would be Nic, MC, SFA & Bacon.
Make of that what you will, but I know I'm narrowing it to one of those three.
kdogg >>> Viking
His vote swap seems curious. I'd imagine a vote for luck would have been cast from the start, but it seems like he waited. I'm sure we all, including Viking, know that LLL & SFA reciprocate votes.
Mike D's posts didn't really raise any suspicion with me. NBF refused to reciprocate a vote, which at least got me thinking, but the vote she didn't reciprocate was for Viking. I like where I'm at for now, but wouldn't mind input. I will, of course, change my vote should self-preservation dictate it.
I don't think I've ever been accused of being quiet but whatever. Regardless I am planning on toning it down a bit this game. I haven't been too good at picking out the Mafia while following the last few games and will be trying to get better at it.
So you vote for the one guy that doesn't have a vote on him? That seems like a really long worded way to try to get the spot light off you if you ask me.
SFA - 2 KDogg - 1 Bacon - 1 Quacker - 1 Mike D - 1 Nic - 1 LLL - 1 MC - 1 EAP - 1 Viking - 1
Bacon >> KDogg EAP >> Bacon Mike D >> Quacker Viking >> NBF >> SFA Quacker >> Mike D MC >> Nic SFA >> LLL Nic >> MC LLL >> SFA NBF >> EAP KDogg >> Viking
KDogg, I can't respond the way I would like to due coincidentally to the KDogg rule, but I knew you were going to come after me this game. While I appreciate the fact that you took the time to think through and write out a longer response, your logic is off, and you missed a few key details if you did read the last game.
First, you claim that the most verbose people day 1 of the last 2 games were mafia. In Mafia 49 and 49.5, It was Bacon, Viking, and Roo. Between the two games, I was the only mafia member in Mafia 49.5, leaving us with a 16.67% chance of mafia from the most talkative. That is well below the 27.7% general odds of the game, which in your previous games, you have discussed at length. I do not disagree with the premise, of subdividing the players, but what I have learned is that every player has their own style, and if they are talkative, they will talk regardless of role. That leads to point number 2.
I have explained the SFA vote every game. It has worked out for me, and I will continue to do it as long as it works. However, I am damned if I do, and damned if I don't, If I don't do it, someone like Bacon, SFA, or LLL will jump on me for not doing it. If I do do it, someone I have never played with will jump on me like you just did. Also, if you have been reading, you would have noticed that I switch to him later when I am a townie than when I am mafia, because as mafia, it is a good protection move. Right now, it is just for luck.
No need to change your vote. You now have mine. For a smart guy, you missed a few key details. Plus those PM's saying you were coming after me before roles were assigned came true, so...
So you vote for the one guy that doesn't have a vote on him? That seems like a really long worded way to try to get the spot light off you if you ask me.
I'm not sure the spotlight was on me. You voted for me rather early & there wasn't a whole lot of follow-up afterwards.
I'm following a notion I had (not to mention first brought up, not to mention partially inspired by you) before we got roles & started this game. My alternative is reciprocating your vote for me & putting you in a runoff, if you'd prefer that, but I'm more interested in voting for Mafia than basing my vote on "revenge."
Yes, he & I have had a conversation in PM as an offshoot from my Recall Walker thread... and yes, I did tell him I was looking forward to engaging him in Mafia sometime. This all predates Bonnaroo, though, and also our role assignments... I'm not entirely certain this is relevant to our present situation.
I voted Viking not because of that, but because he met my predetermined criteria. I'm not saying my methodology is perfect, but it's worth noting that even in criticizing it Viking admits there is some merit to it. I still think I'm onto something here.
My vote stays with Viking, consequences be damned.

Well the spotlight was on you in that you were the last to vote. A position that normally draws suspicion in every round.

Yea I am tempted to just switch mine to viking because of last game usually find him hard to read because his posts are very verbose and often regardless of his role.

I worked a 4-10pm shift last night. I hadn't yet received my role when I left for work, as this game was posted about fifteen minutes beforehand, and I made my post within an hour of the end of my shift.
The rules call for a 36-hour voting period, and you're riding my ass over seven hours, six of which I was at work? Grasp at straws, much?
You know what should be drawing the Townspeople's suspicion here? The fact that certain among us are rushing for a one-off vote in which no deliberation takes place. For one: Seven hours is pretty darn fast for a Day One vote, if you ask me. For two: There's a lot of votes being switched and/or not reciprocated here. I find it hard to believe that the majority of players here are fine with rushing to judgement to kill off a player in Day One, vote one.
I think there are those among us who are just fine with a rush job to kill off an innocent in a single vote while revealing as little as possible. I am not one of them. I personally think it's an irresponsible way to go about this. A rush job like this is exactly what the Mafia would like to see in Day One. It eliminates an innocent and doesn't give any information.
I would think that as a veteran player, Bacon, you would understand this. As such, I'm going to cast my vote against this rush job by casting my vote against one of its biggest proponents.
