I wasn't really riding your ass. You were at a point where everyone was watching your move. I'm not even saying it was intentional, but you were in that position. You did the least decisive thing possible. That's all I'm calling you out on.
I don't think it was indecisive. I think I thought something out in advance and followed through on it.
I pointed to the louder players as a starting point. I still don't necessarily think that was a bad idea, even though I am one of them. Had I cast a vote for NBF or Mike D, I would have either cast a similar "indecisive" lone vote for one or put another who's not giving me any bad vibes at the moment in the lead. I'm fine with choosing the loud one that I did.
I'm just not fine with the fast & loose Day One we had been having before we had this discussion. It doesn't matter whether it's me or another, killing off one player so fast with so little information doesn't help the Townspeople in the long run as much.
Keeping my vote as it is for self-preservation purposes, but I can be persuaded otherwise as this round develops.

I always like to see a three-way runoff in the first round, so I'm probably going to change my vote, although I wouldn't actually be adverse to seeing EAP in the runoff, mainly because she voted for Bacon right after he voted for kdogg. This doesn't necessarily mean anything because it was entirely possible kdogg wouldn't place a reciprocal vote against Bacon, but it was also possible that he would. That said, it's first round and with so little to go on, it's kind of a crap shoot who I want to change my vote too, but I want to think about it a little more nonetheless. Anyway, my point is that I leave work in about three hours, and I'm probably going to change my vote when I get home, so even if it's quiet before then, I'd love it if this doesn't go to a runoff just yet.
Also, kdogg, the problem with your logic is calling any of us "loud" up to the point where you made your post. I was included in that group for a post that was 41 words (you said 42, but I think your word count included the >>> in my vote), and Mike D's post was even shorter than mine. Your word count for Viking was more than twice as big as mine, but even his posts were hardly extensive. I think it was a bit of a stretch to call any of us "wordy" based on those posts.

I'm slowly warming up to three person runoffs, even thought I do think it gives the mafia other ways to hide. At least it forces more vote switches if the townies are engaged in the game.
The last couple of games (when I've not been mafia), I've encouraged flipping up the postential people in the first runoff. It justs seems likly that early on the mafia will sit back and hope for the round to close, when they are fine with who the potential runoff is between. It's worked out well except for when I took Viking out a couple games back but I did end up putting him back in before the runoff started.

I see what Kdogg is saying as far as mafia members assuming different roles like "the loud one" etc. The problem is I think we sometimes forget that it's content over number of posts. Some people are just naturally more verbose. So it helps to see if anything they are saying is actually influencing the course of the game or are they just thinking out loud? I remember when I was mafia with Abra and Bonnie, I got into a long winded argument with Scrog just to give me something to talk about so it looked like I was participating.
We will not start a runoff until sometime tomorrow.. there is still decent discussion going on. I will post ahead of time saying when it will close (move into runoff), pending discussion, with at least 2-3 hours notice.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

Anymore.
I have nothing much to add. Can't really check the internet during work much this week or weekend. I think I'm going to the Ledges and I need to get my work done in order to go. I am STILL not a fan of 3 person run-offs, but hey, may as well put Viking in if it is going to be one.

Alright. I have no problem being in a first round runoff. If this stands it will be my 4th in a row. But not for these bullshit reasons. First KDogg and his factual errors and pulling at straws and now Nic because he does not like to read my posts. Then LLL jumps on me for no reason whatsoever. I call shenanigans on this. Add to this the varied voting styles early on and we have a lot to go on for Day 1.
I feel like the Mafia are jumping on the 3 most vocal so far and hiding behind KDoggs theory. I am on my cell right now, but will review when I get home. All I know is that I am being set up and that I am a townie.

I actually agree with Viking at the moment. Seems a little to easy to me. Viking, Bacon and Kdogg are easy people to get in a runoff without the mafia bringing much attention to themselves.
So either we got the mafia going for an easy first round runoff to get through the round
Or we have a mafia member in these three. If that is the case then the mafia is the one pushing for a three-way runoff.
No way of knowing either way but something seems kind of fishy to me.

I am not pushing for anything I aid last game I was voting viking or LD until otherwise proven not mafia. I read your posts viking. You playstyle doesn't vary much so you worry me.

Yeah, I know. I was just listing the other possibility. I tend to think it's the first one.
Edit: I'm also not sure I feel like pushing to switch things around to much at this point just because it muddles the water. I'm open to suggestions however.

Ohhh, and I forgot a third option. Viking is mafia and LLL and Nik made very lucky townie votes one after the other. Stranger things have happened I guess.

Well, I'm perturbed. I was all set to make it a three-person runoff, and LLL went and pulled the rug out from under me. While I like a three-person runoff in the first round, I'm less inclined to have a four-person one. But I'm not sure how I feel about the runoff as is. I guess I'm not changing for now, but I do still think I might.
BTW I'm not mafia. I've been voted out super early twice now. Please dont do it again
Seeing as all three people that are in the potential runoff are voting for each other, what do you think would be a good way to possible switch things around. Hopefully in a way that might help us glean more information?

First this. There is nothing I can do to defend myself against this comment. All I can say is that I am a townie this game. There is no way for me to prove that I am not mafia until the end of the game. You got to make the call as you see it, but it is kind of insulting to get lumped into the LD category. I have never faked inspector as a townie at least.
On to the rest of the game. I am a big fan of 4-5 person, multistage runoffs, since it gives us more to work with. The odds go up significantly when you have more people in there, and the chances are better that mafia members will make a mistake. Of course, I pushed for that last game when I was mafia, but only to give me more room to maneuver. Basic statistics says that the larger the runoff, the better the odds we have a mafia member in there. We are all smart and relatively sober people, so hopefully we can determine who is who by the end.
Looking back on the last 5 games, heading into the runoff, typically 2 mafia votes put people in. If that pattern holds true this game, that means that there is likely 2 mafia among Myself, KDogg, Bacon, LLL, EAP, and Nic. I am going to go farther back and see if this pattern continues to hold too, but for now, lets consider this pool.
At this point, I am not ready to jump to any conclusions regarding innocence or guilt. I think KDogg has contradicted himself a few times, and I would like to see him in the runoff, but the vote switch that concerned me the most was LLL. No reasoning, just, lets kill Viking. KDogg and Nic had already laid the groundwork and she just jumped on board, figuring that other votes would swing if needed.
LLL and KDogg are the two most suspicious to me right now, but given all of the above, I would rather see LLL in the runoff if it has to be a 3 person runoff. I would really like to see a 4 person, but for the time being,
Viking >>> NBF >>> SFA >>> KDogg >>> LLL
And yes, I know the vote changes make me look like I am mafia. As I explained a few games ago, I use my vote as a tool to prompt action, therefore it changes a lot.

The fact that you, the "quiet in the first round when a townie" type, have started this much speculation already makes me pretty leery of you sir.
And Viking, I have my reasons. Best believe I'm not a random acts of Mafia type.

The odds are so likely that we have a Mafia in the runoff. I'm sure Viking has it on the tip of his tongue . I like the 3-way and also the point that SFA made about seeing what happens with the votes since the three are doing a Mexican standoff. This could be telling for a first round runoff.

You guys have WAAAAYYYY too much to say and speculate about for it being the first round. WAAAYYY too much. Townies tend to not do so much speculating first round. Just saying.
The only reason for putting ANYONE in the runoff first round is to see how they and others will react to it Viking. That is exactly why I picked you.

I should clarify that the reason for a townie putting someone in the runoff. Mafia have other reasons.

Ummmmm...... I've done this plenty of times before??
It's something that has worked for me in the past. Bringing up the fact that the mafia might be fine with the runoff we have early on. Meaning they hope to get an easy runoff started and therefor get through the first round without much of a blood trail. I never once said it was a solid theory or it made anyone look guilty.
I will say I'm fine with my vote for you and have no intention of moving it.
