fubu thread of Pretty Lights announcements had me in tears yesterday: www.facebook.com/BayFestMusicFestival If they don't get some watered down radio rock/country for the other headliners, the butthurt will be strong with this page.
Man, I honestly don't even know what to expect now. I would have to say the best case scenario would be them getting George Clinton and Allman Brothers Band though as the other headliners. It's highly unlikely they'll get both and I kinda doubt that they'll get either after the Pretty Lights add. What is likely is that they're going to get a heavy hitting country star like Alan Jackson or Taylor Swift...and for some "hard rock" my guess is definitely Creed (I would say Avenged Sevenfold, but CPR fest in Biloxi already got them).

Its Mobile, Alabama, you can't blame them (well yeah you can) for their lack of taste. I almost lost it when one guy was legitimately serious about not going if Nickelback wasn't there.
I have never had high hopes for the Bayfest line up besides a laugh or two. I have seen a few good acts there though: Widespread Panic, Grand Funk Railroad, Stone Temple Pilots, Ludacris.

That's pretty effin' hilarious.
If there is at least 1 good bluegrass band added, I will be there. I have high doubts though. I could see them adding someone to the likes of Galactic or something though...
I've seen some cool acts there since '96. Usually in a shittty crowd but whatever I have a good time wherever I go. -Pain, Alice In Chains. STP. Velvet Revolver, Audioslave, Blue Oyster Cult, Al Green, Dennis Fingeroll Nelson, Korn, Meat Puppets, Morris Day & The Time, P Funk, Rev. Horton Heat, Flogging Molly, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Steppenwolf etc
Checking the archive they have had some badass acts I didn't even know about at the time.
I think for good stuff this year we will get a bunch of NOLA acts; prob Anders, funky Meters, Galactic etc Prob get Gov't Mule. Who knows they could get Phil n Friends.
IMO, having Pretty Lights as the first big name tells me they got different people booking this shit and are trying to get a more diverse crowd than the usual rednecks and douchebags from Michigan that think Bayfest is the premier music event in the country.

I'm thinkin' the same thing. Gotta be someone different in control of their booking or if it's not, they finally freed their mind a little.
Announcing PL first, and having them scheduled at 10:15pm on a mainstage......that is just so the polar opposite of Bayfest's style.
Any previous year, if they had PL they would be like 3pm on a smaller stage or something. If you book good bands people with more money will travel further distances.
You book Nickelback etc you get the same schwilly dbags as usual droppin' all that cash on budlights and DUI court costs.
You guys will appreciate this; during that Motley Crue show two years ago I was raging with this chick and these two kids in front of me kept staring. They finally started talking to me; they thought I was the drummer from some band, I think Shinedown. I have long hair a huge beard and lots of tattoos so I guess I look like I'm in a band. They were from Michigan and thought I "killed it" and didn't understand why I was in the crowd and not backstage w/ The Crue. " I like to be with my people, brah!". They were all like "whoaaa!! no way!". The guy wanted a picture of me with his girlriend. So I obliged, I got a huge handfull of her ass and gave the metal horns with the other hand and told him to "tag me on facebook bro!"
They were seriously starstruck and the guy was equally excited that I had grabbed her ass as she was. They dipped off after that to another spot. I was laughing about that shit all night........gotta love Bayfest

I have been to BayFest the last four years. It's actually alot of fun if you don't mind the act quality being down.
And there's a lot changing with this festival this year. Pepsi is gone, Coke is in, they book Pretty Lights.... they still have the same booking company as years' past so that can't be it. They did hire a new person to oversee festival operations last year. Maybe that's what's causing these changes. There's been a lot of complaints about them booking a lot of the same acts every other year (3 Doors Down. 2009 & 2011. That's enough to make anyone complain). I think it's cool BayFest is expanding its horizons a little bit.
For $45 dollars, you get what you get. Beer is cheap, food is reasonable. It's a great little festival.
Pretty Lights leaked those two on the now edited Facebook event page they created.
well goddang. Willie and GP aren't my favorites but I am pretty darn proud of Bayfest. some quality bookings.
actually I've never seen GP live. I hear they are great, but I'm not crazy about the studio stuff I hear.
looking for bayfest to give me a good reason to stick around Saturday, otherwise I'll probably go to NOLA to see PL again.
GP is one of those live acts whose show blows away their studio stuff. Just because you don't love their studio stuff doesn't necessarily mean you won't love their live show.

*ahem*
Great example of just one the main reasons their live performance is much better than studio...
