This festival is being put together by a co-creator of Ultra Music festival. It's going to have an eclectic "Coachella-esque or Bonnaroo-esque" line-up, (alhough, based on the city demographic and production company I suspect it will be heavily EDM influenced) It will take place on Art Basel Weekend in Miami the first weekend in Dec. They're working with Art Basel directly to incorporate art installations into the festival. Art Basel itself in recent years has drawn alot of arty and/or experimental bands to Miami, some of whom would not notmally come here. It's been becoming sort of a miniature arty SxSW, drawing talent such as James Murphy + Pat Mahoney, TV on the Radio, Yelle, Neon Indian, Yacht, etc etc to various clubs and theatres around the city. I would imagine the UR1 festival will feature a similar caliber of artists. It's most likely to take place at Bayfront Park or Grand Central Park (depending on the scale) since those are the only parks downtown that can fit a multi stage festival

It was confirmed today that the festival will be at Bayfront Park (the same site as Ultra 2012) and include 5 stages. Lineup coming Aug 21 Not gonna get my hopes up on this, but it looks promising

I talked to a promoter tonight. He told me the festival is 60% electronic, 40 % miscellaneous alternative and indie. I asked him about ticket prices and he said he could only speculate but probably around $100 I pushed him really hard for some rumors and he eventually relented that they're in negotiations with Red Hot Chili peppers. RHCP doesn't excite my much, but the fact that they're booking such a high profile band got me excited about the scope and possibilities of this festival

Woah. Interesting stuff.
The balance of artists makes me excited, but honestly I'd rather this festival not be massive, for cheapness sake.
Actually, by the sound of it this really sounds like the old Bang music festival.

Really hope so. Anyone think they can snag Daft Punk/ Kanye/ Modest Mouse like Bang did?

2 more days til lineup release If they manage to put together a coachella-esque line-up as they suggested, with art installations and Ultra Festival level stage production, this really could stand to be one of the greatest festivals in the country. Really trying not to get my hopes up, but I'm starting to get excited.

Really hoping this lineup is great. I was bummed when Orlando Calling fell through for 2012, as I loved having a huge festival in Florida. This will likely be the same weekend as this big concert my local alternative station puts on every year though, so it's gotta be worth pulling me away and spending all the extra $$$ I would need to. To give you an idea, last year had Sublime w/ Rome, A Day to Remember, and Bush as the headliners, with Foster the People, Young the Giant, The Joy Formidable, Grouplove and fun. there as well, among others (almost like a mini Roo before Roo 2012 was announced), so they'll have to do better than RHCP to get me interested (don't care to see them a third time in 2012).

Just wanted to say, while I do expect the lineup to be posted today, I would not be surprised if it wasn't. This isn't AC, c3, or goldenvoice we're talking about. It's the guys who ran ultra, who are often unreliable, and not very prompt

Indeed.
It was a remix of the XX though, so I'm not counting my chickens...
Feel like they fit well with what they seem to be going for with this fest. But then again, I could be completely off on what I think they are trying to go for, so...
The XX would be the shiz. I hope they snag Byrne/St.Vincent and Animal Collective too. I was thinking maybe some of the people from the Coachella Cruise could be on the lineup since they have to be in Florida in December before they sail to Jamiaca.

Here's praying for James Murphey and Pulp ya'll.
I hope so, but they probably have a radius clause that might prevent them from playing in any cities near the port unless its a coachella sponsored event.
I'm hoping I'm wrong, but I think this event will be relatively mainstream. Coachella-esque, but all the most mainstream artists from a coach lineup, without the obscure ones
