Idk how anyone has gotten past Fake Empires....I got Boxer this morning and threw it on when I was going to work...I must have listened to that song six times....plus it snowed last night....one of the more peaceful drives I've had to work in quite a long time. I must try and listen past this haha

Picking a favorite National song is like picking your favorite scene from a good film. Kind of pointless, because it's all about context. They're the classic album-oriented band.
That said, if I had to pick a favorite National song, the finalists would be "Terrible Love," "Sorrow," "Bloodbuzz Ohio," "Fake Empire," "Mistaken for Strangers," "Start A War," "Secret Meeting," "All the Wine," "Abel," and "Mr. November." Yes, that's a lot of songs, because it's hard to even narrow it down from that. That's why their albums are so good.

One of my all time favorite bands, their '10 Lollapalooza show is in my top 5 ever. As for favorite songs, it's so hard to choose, probably Karen, All The Wine, Apartment Story, Available, Slipping Husband, Bloodbuzz Ohio, Conversation 16 and Without Permission.
Sadly, I've only seen them once, and it wasn't very memorable due to a few many beverages.
I normally don't like getting too drunk for concerts as like to actually remember the show. I saw them with my ex and my brother & his gf. We started with a few pre-drinks, but because we had not seen each other in several months, the pre-drinks lead to a full on drunkfest before the show.
I mean, I had a great time and remember the show, but not as clearly as I would like to.

About Today (live version especially), Available, and The Geese of Beverly Road are probably more "unheralded" ones that are among my favorites. karosko's spot on though on how hard it is to narrow it down.

I'm just going to say that as a completely straight dude, Matt is mad sexy. He could sing me the telephone book and i'd fall in love . also, couldn't think of a better band to play roo this year. I'm hoping that they eventually reach headliner level as they are great performers and deserving of it.

They were second to last on the Which on their day when they played in 2010. I think it's safe to say they've gotten bigger since then, not to mention I'd imagine a new album is forthcoming considering that Barclays Center date. Sunday Which closer or pre-pre-HL on the What like the Decemberists or Avett Brothers would be my best guess.

Bloodbuzz Ohio and Mr. November
When I saw them at Lolla in 2011, Matt was in the audience as always during Mr. November and when he was about to yell the "won't f*&% us over" line, he realized he was standing next to a five year old girl. On the fly, he changed it to "won't mess us over". Priceless.

I can't see the video from work, but I am assuming you posted the video that comes full circle at the end as Matt ends up right where the dude filming is standing?
I've seen The National 10 times, and went to five of their Beacon shows in six days. The one show I missed, due to seeing MMJ at the Garden, they played All The Wine which, along with About Today, is my favorite song by them.

I was there too and it remains one of my all time favorite concert experiences. It was a really classy move when he changed the lyrics.
You're just too young to grasp how stylin' I really was. All the boys wanted to do me when I was 5. Actually the girls did too. My haircut was confusing.
I prefer Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers, but Alligator and High Violet are both phenomenal as well.
Not sure why, but I almost always completely forget about their first two albums. Maybe because they are not loaded on my ipod. I always think of them as only having three albums.
