Heather and I saw Trampled By Turtles (some) Ben Folds Five Alabama Shakes ZZ Top
Went back and forth between Jack White and Above & Beyond.
Not a fan of Folds, but liked everything else. The crowd wasn't as douchey as last year but still kinda crummy. The place was absolutely trashed, the lines were atrocious, running out of food is BS, and everything was outrageously expensive.
Music was good at least. Def not a festival vibe at all. And I wish I saw Above & Beyond in full rather than parts, but I wanted to see Jack White also (and it was a must see for Heather.)

Ya, running out of food was total nonsense. There weren't near enough bathrooms either, but in MPP's defense it's only the 4th year or so they've done this, they can't possibly be expected to have figured out advanced details like those.
My favorite part of the fest was when ZZ Top flew away on pterodactyls at the end of their set.
Now that I think of it, didn't they run out of food last year too?
Other countries are laughing at how fat we are.
Going to a fest where you can't leave and reenter where there's lots of beer and dancing going on, people need to eat. Yes, they ran out last year too. Major F*up on their part, again.
They don't have enough for the amount of people there. More than enough beer, but people need two meals there plus drunken snack breaks. Its a preparation thing.

LOL, I think gardenfresh was just putting a different take on the running out of food thing- I got a chuckle.
Honestly, the food was soooo crappy and way over-priced (the worst I've seen this year at any event, selection wise and price wise), maybe it did us all a favor they ran out? I ate a hot dog and some nachos and this morning I felt like I may have some food poisoning :-(
Really wanted to meet up with some of you guys there! Never really had an opportunity to do that though. It was just constant mayhem for us as soon as we arrived. Crowds, lines, and back-to-back shows! We scored some pretty nice seats in the pavilion and never felt like giving them up. Going out into the fray and insanity quickly wore me out so I just stayed in my seat alot.
Saw: TbT, Shakes (met Zach from Shakes too! felt his paisley shirt), some of ZZ Top, some of M83, and all of Jack White! I said before that I wasn't that dead-set on seeing Jack, sooooo friggin' happy right now that I got back in time to catch all of him, amazing (first time seeing him for us).
I got yelled at alot for smoking too- lol- I took off running from security at one point too, and she chased me! Ha ha. It was funny. She got pissed, said they'd kick me out, I quickly obliged. I was just playing, sort of.
Nah. I got evicted right before BFF. I'll see Nas in a few weeks and I just saw M83. From what I can tell the M83 set was the same one I saw. Those were my big two, funny enough.
i was smoking cigs and corn all day long at freefest with zero problems, and i was pretty close to like 2 dozen cops for most of the day too (all the way to the crowd right side of the festival stage). weird that you guys were having issues
i got there a bit on the late side due to traffic coming down from jersey but i caught all of santigold (good, not as good as roo), nas (just ok), m83 (really awesome), jack white (he absolutly killed it) and a piece of skirllex (entertaining, but i feel like it would been better on different intoxicants)

I think I was on the fan cam or some other streaming set up. They were right behind me on a major path and yelled, "Does anyone speak French?!?" Crazy psychic people. Apparently, it was streaming in France too, so they just asked me to say something to them."

Yeah i had an amazing time. Didn't have an issue with smoking corn at all. Then again i was pretty close to the front for most of the shows i saw. Food never bothered me either had something small and i was good to go.
Saw penguin prison- wish i saw the whole thing but they were really cool Portugal the Man- was a pretty cool set, really like helter skelter Dismemberment Plan- really really thought they rocked it would be really awesome to check see them on the farm next year Santigold- beginning was awesome, middle of the set lost my attention, but then picked up at the end NAS- maybe i'm not a huge NAS fan but was not too impressed, i think sound was a big issue though becase wear i stood his vocals were real loud M83- absolutely amazing from my vantage point (minus the high schoolers i was going to upper cut in to oblivion) but damn i want them to be at roo next year if at all possible, they blew me away Then i wandered around between Jack White, above & beyond and skrillex. Actually i walked towards skrillex and heard him yell "What's up to all my ferris wheel peeps" and literally just turned around. Above and beyond was cool. Jack White was awesome, M83 took everything out of me.
No issues otherwise. I'm sorry i couldn't meet any of you and pass on my good vibes because i had an amazing saturday.
Gland, I can not believe this. had my corn all day and even saw a group of kids using an apple, not being discreet about their corn at all in a very open place close to security, and they throw you over lighten a cig? SMH. Sorry to hear.
I def got my money's worth. freemium tix for 60 bucks plus a pretty cool tee. Im suprised the amount ofeach set that i saw and amount of sets.

TBT, Alabama shakes, M83 and Jack White were my favs of the day. First time seeing Shakes and i must saw wow. Jack white hands down best headliner show ive seen (i think better then radiohead roo 06 )but this is IMO. I knew he was going to be good but i was still stunned at this show. That all female band was absolutly mind blowing. the women playing the slide was amazying. def one of the best shows ive ever seen. I see why people are paying 400 for pit tix. i wouldn;t pay it but i see why people would if that makes sense. Nas was really bad. PP and alabama were my two suprises.
M83, Jack White, and TBT were the winners followed by ZZ Top, Penguin Prison, Dismemberment Plan, and Portugal. Then, Future Islands and lastly Nas bringing up the rear. Apparently, I saw about half of Ben Fold set, but I must have been drunk, tired or not paying attention (or all three) because I can't remember it at all.

Great fest, great weekend. Agreed that Bunny and D'cat were truly amazing hosts. Much, much, much too gracious; they're the best. Don't talk back to Dancat, he'll dump your body down by the river, see? Unsurprisingly, M83 and Jack were the highlights for me, along with Trampled by Turtles, The Dismemberment Plan, Penguin Prison, etc.
Also, the "Taste of DC" festival downtown yesterday was pretty rad. Still wondering what the hell skrimp is, though (you can't just nod your head and say "yeah" dude, tell me what's in it!). DC seems like it'd be an awesome city to live in. Great, great, great weekend!

Guy on his cell phone by the beer stand near the west stage: "Okay, yeah, where are you???" Quiet for a minute. "Okay, right then, I'll meet you by the big tree." Looking around, it dawns on him that there are lots of big trees. "Okay, what tree???" Quiet for a second. "Okay, I'll meet you by the bunch of big trees." He hangs up, satisfied with that answer, and off he stumbles.

Ummmm... Very good possibility that it was during Portugal. the Man! And it was super close to the ferris wheel, yes! BUT when they actually filmed me, it was behind them, not me. So I am not sure if it was me that you saw. It could have been that you saw me right before that or something too?
