Is it awesome? Tell me it's awesome. With the vacay upcoming, I won't be able to see it until next weekend.
I liked it. It's slow-burn, thought provoking sci-fi. Not a big action movie but definitely something that you can reflect back on and it's something I anticipate watching a few more times when it's released on streaming/DVD.

It's really something. There's so much to unpack in the last 20 minutes I'm still confused this morning. It's denser than anything he's done but the character work and basic plot suffers a little. Maybe that's a by-product of design because this movie is more about big ideas and trippy Bjork/Tool music video shit. The score is unsettling as hell too.
and Dave Maynar re: annihilation, i agree with what the guys said. it was pretty slow for a while, but then got super cool. lots of great imagery and the music, man! sometimes i have a hard time following sci-do stuff, but ben had read the series a couple years ago and i was glad that he kind of briefed me on the general idea before going into the movie.

So for a good while I've been looking for this Fulci giallo movie set in an 80s dance studio called Murder-Rock: Dancing Death, a.k.a. Slashdance, a.k.a. The Demon is Loose. Which all sound like fake names the guys on MST3K would come up with. Also, Keith Emerson did the score.
I have found it! Suck it g a b f r a b And, again, MURDER-ROCK: DANCING DEATH.
I would really like to see Annihilation but I think it might be just a bit outside of my scare tolerance zone; or, in other words, I am a massive chicken.

If you can take Black Mirror you can take Annihilation.
The horror elements are more body/cosmic. It's not filled with jump scares and stuff.

Ladyfriend was out at the bear in the trailer.
This reminds me of one of many reasons I'm bad at dating. I'm the king of "this isn't scary; this R rated comedy isn't that vulgar; that dish isn't spicy."
But really, Annihilation isn't so bad if you can take body horror and trippy sci-first filmmaking. I think Black Mirror is an apt comparison.

Yea, I felt it's more psychological in the way that thinking more about what it all means and what is happening is pretty nutty. There's definitely a few "scares" but nothing that major. Just creepy. There's actually a lot of beautiful stuff in the movie lol.

I did a "this hike is rated moderate. It's a piece of cake." a couple weeks ago.

It was a really awesome run in the Captain America comics as well. The Winter Solider spin off that came from it was good as well. I was super worried when I heard they were bringing Bucky back, but I think they did it well in both the movies and the comics.
