I feel like Chambara films really do the historical image of the Samurai a disservice. All they do in these movies is get the shit beat out of them. Usually while having much greater odds.

"You should lose that... uh... virginity of yours before he gets to you." Udo Kier is so great in this. I also feel like Tommy Wiseau learned English from listening to nothing but Keir in this and Flesh for Frankenstein. Also, this shit is so bizarre.

Me: I'm in the mood for something light-hearted.
First 10 minutes of movie: Little girl accidentally smothers her puppy while seeing her parents get killed by Nazis. She proceeds to wonder around a war zone petting the dead dog.
Where do you watch a majority of these (lesser-known to me) films? Is it through a streaming service or some firestick/other streaming method? Just wondering because of how many unique titles I see from you in here.

It's a mixture. I bought the An Autumn Afternoon Criterion this weekend. I have Netflix streaming and dvd services. HBO Go. A firestick for legit and shady streaming. You can also find a lot of good stuff hidden on Youtube. It can just be a pain to navigate around the bait and switch shit. For example, just from this page the Zatôichi movies(I guess all 26? At least a large majority) and the Warhol horror movies are on there for free. I find a lot of the stupid horror movies on there because nobody cares.
I also have like a 1000(?) dvds. I spent a lot of money on movies in my youth. Like a crazy amount. I sold most of it during the financial crisis but I ripped the important stuff and put them on blank discs.
You should totally watch Rome Open City. It's great. It's filmed in the literal rubble of post-war Italy. The directing and camera work is ahead of it's time. It's easy to spot the direct influence Italian Neorealism had on Scorsese and other new Hollywood folks.

Leaving Netflix in April. Figured id rewatch. Josh Hartnett, Danny Huston, Ben Foster, Manu Bennett. Such a solid cast with a unique take on a vampire movie. I remember liking it. We'll see how it holds up.
