My 14 year old students love Skrillex. They talk about him ALL of the time. He's essentially really cool to 14 year old boys. With that said, I hate Skrillex even more after reading this thread. I really have no other input but that at the moment. I just really dislike Skrillex.
I like this number. This article claims Deadmau5 made $100,000 after a six hour set. Granted it wasn't a festival but still, I'd say their equally popular. No more than $200,000 is my guess.
And the highest paid artist on this list at 300k? BLAKE SHELTON!
So now you guys need to blame all those country artists for eating up all the money and not giving us a Fri night Which set or any good LN acts Saturday night!
Jesus this means Kenny Rogers probably got paid $800,000!!!!!!!!
Plus another $200,000 to appear with Phish!
BOOOO YOU KENNY ROGERS FOR COSTING BONNAROO ONE MILLLLLLLLLLLION DOLLARS!!!!

Why would you say that? EDM will continue to grow and probably influence generations to come.
By the way disco didn't die. It just turned into bands like LCD Soundsystem, !!!, The Rapture and similar artists I really love.
Why would I say that? because it's true. 10 years from now EDM will not be nearly as popular as it is now. Every decade or so a new music trend comes along, and another loses popularity.
and sorry to break it to you, but 70's disco is dead, and has been for quite some time

70's DISCO in particular? Sure, you could say that. Hip-hop isn't what it was in the 80's but the genre carries on. "Modern Disco" may not sound like the Bee Gees or look like Saturday Night Fever but I assure you artists still imitate it. Music is really more about recycling than anything else.

I was working on an involved joke where disco was resurrected and Skrillex was the $800,000 man (we can rebuild him! but we're running short on hair) but I don't even understand it anymore.
