Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Basically something a little more formal than the board. Have a base "staff" of writers and then others can submit stuff for consideration as well. I see it being mostly album reviews, concert reviews, opinion pieces on music and whatever people feel compelled to write about. Kind of like the stuff Consequence of Sound does minus the news stuff.

So then we'll have fifty album reviews of the new Radiohead album, great ;o)
If you're going to do that make sure more than the "hipsters" and "hippies" are represented, otherwise it's going to be a whole lot of NoD and Bacon opinions. Not saying that either of their opinions are right or wrong, but if it's the same people posting the same stuff about the same genre of music, it will look a little biased. Maybe make it a rotating thing kind of like "board member of the month" where you pick two or three regular posters to review the new releases of these bands.
I really don't mean that as a backhanded comment, and hope you see what I mean by that.

also another minor suggestion, when you post can you make it so the thread reloads at your post, rather than back at the top (so you can quickly see if your images came out right and so on)
Adam added a new one a while back. Must not have worked out well?
I totally missed the new search box and continued to go to the crappy-ass search icon in the header box. I never look where the new google search box is because it's where the ads usually are.
*Direct image posting without having to host offsite would be nice...not sure how feasible.
Holls, you can use the insert image link now and just put the image's URL between the brackets rather than hosting it. Your posts in the Now Playing thread always slow me down when I'm on my phone.

Maybe a section totally devoted to newbies/first time Rooers questions instead of them clogging up the What Stage. Possibly even a specific Mod that answer these questions the best

No, I agree (although I don't know how I feel being called a hippy). I think basically it should be open to anyone who is a decent writer, which should bring in plenty of opinions.
And actually off of the 50 Radiohead reviews wouldn't it be cool to have 2 or 3 reviews of some albums by people with vastly different tastes? That's something you don't really see elsewhere but I think it could be really cool.

A discussion/sharing of opinions could work. For example, the AV Club will do a "roundtable" type of posting where multiple staff members will post their thought on something and then discuss things they liked and things they didn't. Not an argument but more of a "here or some of my thoughts" followed by "That's interesting because I felt....blah blah blah".
Yes something exactly like that. We have such a diverse group of members and if something like that happened it would be a shame not to take advantage of it
Writing about music? To an audience that knows & appreciates the topic? HELLOOOO, HEAVEN!
Srsly, it's a great idea. I've written music blogs/reviews in the past and enjoyed the hell out of it. Having an outlet like this would be a great addition to the boards IMO. I'm already looking forward to seeing what GL, Hakuna, Karosko, and Bacs have to share...and hopefully this will also lure back Zapp. A thread like that needs him!!!

I'm a journalism student. I know my writing isn't formal on this board but I am willing to write on the site to give me more practice if writers are needed. I can send sample work if you guys want.

Ouch.
Mea culpa.
Nothing personal, man. The only reason they came to mind first is b/c we're all friends who socialize IRL (and on FB, Twitter, TinyChat, TurnTable, blah blah blah.) We've hung out & bonded at multiple festivals & shows, road trips & parties, etc. That's why. It wasn't a slight against you in any way.
Ya know, you could come to the dark side of social networking & join us in all the mischief & merry-making...
Mastodon needs to let Brandon Dailor sing moar and they need to start playing "Cut You With A Linoleum Knife" live already. It'd be the perfect set opener.

Looking forward to somehow relating every single discussion back to Mastodon.
Juggs: "Well, while I agree that Fiona Apple's newest album represents serious growth from her as an artist, I find the production woefully thin and unable to truly support her vocal range. I simply don't understand why she didn't enlist Brann Dailor to produce and/or let Mastodon play all the instrumentals. Better yet, I don't see why she couldn't have gotten up, walked out of the studio, tossed herself into oncoming traffic, and just let Mastodon record another masterpiece. Thoughts, Bacon?"
Bacon: [shoots self]
Welp, I think that seals it. When's the first roundtable?
5. A way to load photos directly, rather than loading them to a third party site and pasting the link
This
And again THIS! Another board I'm a member of that deals in topics not proper for inforoo allows you to upload photos directly to your post without having to use html or css tags. The site uploads the photo to a private photo album linked to your account and automatically adds the image tag to it in your post.

Do you know what kind of message board platform they use? Like how Inforoo currently uses proboards. Usually located towards the bottom of the site.
A large portion of this site's traffic comes from randos during a short period of time preceding Bonnaroo. I think a concerted effort at consolidating information for Noobs and making the site more easily navigable for them would go a long way.
I also think reviews/roundtables from the inforoo vets would be a great feature and I would love to read them. Who needs Pitchfork? This forum is bursting with music knowledge.
This thread is kinda irrelevant now since these changes aren't happening so fast BUT I agree. We will work to consolidate info and organize it nicely for the upcoming festival and I also believe we are going to work towards making an article/blog/reviews thing for members of the board. ;D
