Just outta sheer curiosity: when the boards are moved, will all the previous content in here be archived and/or imported? Not sure if that's logistically possible, but I'd really hate to lose access to all these years of posts, ya know? Just my random thoughts on the matter.

As Phi said....we kinda answered it but that thread is long.
The original goal (and what I imagine will remain the goal) would be to archive the proboards forum so that no new posts could be made but it would allow all of the old threads/posts to stay so we could come here, browse and search and not lose the years of memories.
Extremely helpful Bonnaroo-related threads would likely have the important info brought over to the new forum (copy and paste and all that) but it wouldn't be a simple import of the threads.
Also, there would be a warning about when this all would happen with plenty of time to prepare. That's one of the things that is important....making sure everyone is aware and also getting all the important threads together
Pretty sure I know the answer to this but just so everyone knows for sure..... We need to archive any PMs we want saved before the change right? In other words, we will no longer be able to sign in here to get access to them once the board moves. Correct?

I believe so but i'm not 100% on this.
I want to make this 100% clear though....the change is not happening next week, next month, etc. There will be PLENTY of time to know when we'll be making a switch and we'll make clear what you should do if you want to save certain things. It won't be a surprise. We'll be open about a timeline when we actually work one out....and no clue when exactly that will be. For now we're just focusing on maintaining this place
Yeah, no problem. I wasn't worried about it really because it's not that big of a deal. I was just checking on something I was curious about. I'm not worried about anything changing over night. But this will be something to remind people of. In case they have a # list for an upcoming fest saved or whatever random piece of info.

Agreed Druid.
We're open to ideas. If you post on other message boards and you really like the functionality/setup of their boards we'll like to hear about it. We know of a few options but there are always pros and cons of different message board systems.
The only other board I have spent any major time on is Expectingrain.com the Dylan forum. It is a phpBB forum. Personally I prefer the set up we have here. They are pretty similar but the proboards setup is a bit crisper. Not sure how much of that is the phpBB features or the people running expectingrain but still

I'm not on a ton of forums myself. The ones I'm very active on have a few different setups that I'll be looking into. phpBB is definitely something we're aware of and it'll be one of the options when that time comes. Either way...people who know more about message boards please throw in your 2 cents
