One of my most interesting sxsw moments occured after getting cut off in line for MSTRKRFT, no one left, we started a dance party outside of the club, but some were still trying to get into the club so they called the riot police to clear out the alley with horses and stopped the show for a few. Now I just move on if I can't get in.
One of the biggest advantages of having a bike is mobility especially if you walked 10 blocks to find out you can't get in. Just turn around and move on. 10 blocks can be 10 minutes walking, but 2 minutes on a bike. 3 days of riding a bike at sxsw will completely wear you out though.
Delorean is also playing at Fader Fort. I have high hopes for the rest of the brooklyn vegan showcases. I also love the old Emo's. I saw Propagandhi there in high school, and The Very Best owned it there the other year.
i personally find the idea of sxsw super overwhelming without having a badge. i also do not care for standing in line and not getting into something.
Aside from mega-shows like Kanye, you'd be surprised at how little standing in line you'd actually do. I've just walked into most showcases 90 percent of the time.

Shows like that I don't bother with much. If it was at Stubb's I would just hang out outside and listen, but LZR is indoors. I saw Trentemoller play at LZR to close out Saturday in 2011, and that was one of the best sxsw shows I've ever been to. The line will be very long for Prince. I would bet it will be, get tickets here now before the show. Then later entry with ticket. If that's the case, it will be luck to get tickets. Will wait and see.
Would love the Daft Punk rumor to be true. Doubt it. T-minus 2 days.

I know I sound like a crusty geezer saying this, but BACK IN MY DAY SXSW was about hyping new indie bands. The focus seems to be completely gone now. It's all major labels and established artists hyping their acts rather than showcases next big things. Even if none of these big rumored acts show (Prince, Atoms for Peace, Lil Wayne, Daft Punk), the fact that these guys are the buzz not guys like TNGHT (who came out of SXSW last year with super human strength) is a big disappointment.
Anyone in town come out to Hotel Vegas on E Sixth for free drinks and food. Music by Allah-Las and more
Hard Proof is on that bill as well. I highly recommend catching them if the opportunity presents itself. The horn section is from Black Joe Lewis, they lay down some awesome grooves. They have a few more dates throughout the week too.

I'm all about catching the up and comers while I'm here. I entered the lotto for Nick Cave tickets. Even if I win I don't know that I'd go and skip Jagjaguwar and Dead Oceans at Red 7

Now we're talking. Shooting the sh*t with Dennis Miller and watching Dirty Projectors open the Dead Oceans/JagJag/Secretly showcase was one of my fondest memories of that year (he was a fan).

I am probably skipping Fader entirely this year. The things I want to see are to see scattered about when there are better parties going on. Will play it by ear, but Chvrches, and disclosure were my top 2 acts besides Matt and Kim which is tonight at fader. I may head down tonight, but looks like it will be tomorrow morning. Then probably hype first thing through their day party. If not Brooklyn vegan and then who knows.
If anyone is using twitter, I will be on there. rideincircles
So I been looking over my schedule on the SxSW website, with all the night parties. And then I look at the websites for the clubs, trying to get addresses so I can find these places. Everything is like badge or wristband only.
