Then again, you can probably see most of those at some other point anyway.
I've seen rideincircles post that the Stubbs shows are not hard to get into. That is where Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Kendrick Lamar, and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs will be.
I hope to get into that Ground Central showcase at Mohawk, but I'm already seeing around 500 people RSVP'd for it and I know there are many more planning on going who just haven't posted it. You can hear the sound at least from outside the places like Stubbs and The Mohawk and enjoy the frenzy on the street.
I would like to see Kendrick Lamar, but I just assumed with the bigger names - it would either require a badge/wristband, or would be uber crowded and would take hours to get inside if you could at all, or would cost a pretty penny to get inside

I hate to miss that Daptone show, especially since I've never caught a show at The Moody. There is just so much I want to see Thursday. Stubb's is one of the larger venues and if all the showcases at every single bar, restaurant, hotel lobby, park, street corner, church, etc. draw enough people away I imagine they will let the general public in. rideincircles and others with past experience will know more about this than me. Wherever you end up I'm sure it will be great. Auditorium Shores will be having a Levon Helm Tribute one day with the Midnight Ramble Band. That's free, as is the Friday lineup there of Divine Fits, Jim James, and Flaming Lips. I'm assuming anyone can catch the shows at the Stages On Sixth and that thing is loaded with good acts.
I figure I make a list of things I want to see, then wing it if that plan doesn't work. I just need to know more of the day parties, what's going on where.
If you're going to see Alt-J, you might as well catch Frightened Rabbit - they are one of my recent favorites!
I'll definitely see them if I make it in time! Unfortunately I'm driving from Dallas and I'm not sure if I can realistically be there by noon. I'm just, a procrastinator in the worst way.
A Shores looks pretty good, esp Friday and Saturday. But I'm seeing Jim James in late April, so time might be better spent elsewhere. Too much music, too little time.
So, some of you know my friend Sara, and some of you don't. If you don't, she's awesome! She is going to SXSW with a band. Her best friend cancelled last minute, so she doesn't really have anyone to hang out with while they are busy. She can definitely entertain herself, but she would like to meet up with some friendly faces. If anyone would be up to meeting her, let me know!

As far as Stubb's goes, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs Nick Cave shows is doing a lottery for badge holder tickets and I highly doubt anyone will get in for the main event without a badge/wristband. I had no issues making it into the spin party last year for Santigold/Best Coast last year and would expect the same for Kendrick, just get there early.
I will probably hit up the Jim James/ Flaming Lips show. Still building my itinerary and listening to bands. Trying to figure out who is good to see at Fader Fort based on there line-up release on twitter. Solange and Diiv were two bigger names. I am guessing they could get Kendrick Lamar for fader Saturday, they usually have a big closer (Kanye, Bone, Rick ross the past few years)
I think Charles Bradley was playing rolling Stones day party at La Zona Rosa Thursday, that was very limited on wristbandless the time I tried a couple years ago. Still have not seen anything at the moody, but will probably see a regular show outside of sxsw. The Friday Mohawk show is high on my to do list with Austra, Toro Y Moi and Alt-J.
The funnest part of sxsw is not knowing what's happening next.
That shiz is insane indeed! Thanks for passing along. I entered my email and received a mysterious pledge of more RSVP details to come. Do you know anything about the process there?
That should be a good showcase. Shlomo has been getting quite a bit of love around here lately.
Wednesday I was thinking about trying to jump back and forth from the rock show at Holy Mountain to Elysium to try and catch Stott and Talabot but staying in one spot seems like the best idea. I'll try to catch those two somewhere else during the week. I think there is a midnight Talabot set at Mohawk Tuesday. I'm starting to get my days crossed.
Here's the Elysium bill for Wed
Elysium Austin, TX
8:00PM Archie Pelago 8:55PM Blue Hawaii 9:45PM Andy Stott 11:00PM Huerco S. 12:00AM John Talabot 1:00AM Optimo
I want to see Death Grips, and still have a ticket to a date TBA show near Boston. Dunno anything about the rest of the card, and already made plans in San Antonio that day.
