I would think that never seeing the original Star Wars trilogy is even worse than never seeing Raiders. (It's more culturally impactful.)
What makes it so offensive is that I have been cajoling mr. rosko to see the indiana jones trilogy for at least a couple years, and near the beginning of this year, i exchanged an hour of my time for an agreement from him that he would see at least one of the movies at his earliest possible convenience. It hasn't happened yet.
I have never seen the Godfather series either. And I am ashamed to admit this one, but I have never seen The Big Lebowski. I have seen all of the Indiana Jones films though, many times.
This received 3 dislikes before I even got to it, and may be the worst offense in the thread so far (excluding karosko's persistent negligence). 10 out of 10 embarrassment units.
any godfather movie, it's a wonderful life, casablanca, psycho, citizen kane, jaws, 2001: a space odyssey, clockwork orange, eternal sunshine, amelie, the hangover
movies are my least favorite form of entertainment/media, honestly
Most of these movies are old enough that it's understandable to not having gotten around to them yet. Overall 6/10. But if you've ever been to martha's vineyard, make Jaws a priority.
The hangover, while funny, is not an Important Movie.
I think enough people have not seen the godfather movies that we can skip over them from now on. It's at least vaguely understandable, they require a big time commitment!

I'll give lebowski a 7.5. You've probably heard enough people quoting it anyway.
That's it from me tonight...I'll get to the rest of these posts in the morning. Remember, this thread has a mission! You can't hold out much longer, karosko

I feel that I need to chime in that I own the original Star Wars trilogy on DVD, but I have stopped pushing for her to watch them since she saw the prequels first and stated previously that she wanted to see them 1-2-3-4-5-6 so she could see them "in order". This is an abomination, and I won't allow it in my house.
I have never seen a Kurosawa movie. Given my level of movie watching, I feel bad about this.

I heard an alternate suggestion that may work as a compromise:
IV, V, II, III, VI
(The Phantom Menace really can be skipped.)
This gets you into the Star Wars universe and then you flashback to II & III to get Vader's backstory so you are more invested in part VI.
So because she's already seen I-III you're going to deny her IV-VI? That's just cruel.
When I get a plateful of food I eat the things I like the least first, saving the best for last. Plus, there certainly is logic in watching them in order. I wouldn't recommend it but I get it.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

All this, except I have seen the Hangover (1st one only)
Shawshank is on the list of ones I been wanting to see but just never got myself to sit down and watch it yet.
Just say the word, I will go on Amazon and start buying Indiana Jones movies, then have them shipped to NC. And you will watch them before I see you in Boston. Get ya shit together.
Haven't seen Raging Bull either for that matter. I've neglected the majority of Deniro's work pre Cape Fear really. He's more Ben Stiller's jerkstore father-in-law to me than anything. That's a problem.

Can we preemptively give this an 11? Since I know he will (somehow) hate it?
I'm going to watch the movie! I planned on it a couple weeks ago, had it up and loaded and everything but got busy with schoolwork. I have a lot of sh*t due in the coming weeks (haven't even had time to go see Lincoln or Looper or Skyfall, all of which I really badly want to see), but I will watch it before Christmas. You have my word. I will make good on our deal.
