This is the "local" festival for me so I like to promote it. Great environment and always a nice lineup.
July 25-28
Thursday-Saturday are the "bigger" days. Festival wraps up late Sunday afternoon.
This is just the initial lineup, more coming by Christmas and then again after the first of the year. At least one more headliner type act, maybe two.
The Lumineers John Butler Trio Citizen Cope Yonder Mountain String Band Trampled by Turtles Railroad Earth Blitzen Trapper Michael Kiwanuka Donavon Frankenreiter Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit Delta Rae Lake Street Dive The Last Bison Rising Appalachia GAUDI Nahko and Medicine for the People Yarn Field Report Bronze Radio Return Megan Jean and the KFB Larry and His Flask Spirit Family Reunion Primate Fiasco and more!
Thank you for this! We had friends who went to FloydFest this past year and it looked amazing, and we think it would be a good first fest for our four-year-old daughter. I've already taken off work that weekend!

Yea, this festival is for anyone and everyone. Definitely a good family atmosphere, but those who like to let loose a bit will find their place too. I recommend to all!

As far as I can tell this is the only American Date that JBT has released... but hopefully this means that JBT will be doing the festival circuit this summer!
I might try to be there this July, I am only about 45 minutes away. Be hard though with a internship this summer, going to bonnaroo, making a trip or two to Cincinnati to watch the Reds...but thats a nice lineup to be less than a hour away.
It really depends on how many of them bands I get to see at roo.

This sounds like fun and there are enough bands I'm interested in seeing to motivate me, but this particular rule - "No outside alcohol. We have a contained beer and wine garden where adult beverages are sold for a reasonable price. Coolers will be searched, and alcohol will be confiscated."
Are they saying that no booze is allowed in the campgrounds? Or is this just referring to your entry to the fest grounds? And when they say "contained" does that mean no walking over to a stage after you buy your beer? Their FAQ is a little vague on these details and comes off a little uptight.

The campgrounds* are part of the main site, aka the music stages/public areas are mixed in with the campgrounds. You go through security to get onto the main site, and then you can wander around as you please.
As for alcohol, no alcohol is allowed outside of the beer gardens. There are two, one in a wooded area in the center of the fest with it's own stage (very nice area), and one tent located adjacent to the main stage. So, technically speaking alcohol is not allowed otherwise, but it's super easy to get alcohol into your campground. Just put it in your bag or something of the sort, the 'security' search is a quick look in you cooler. That's all. So getting booze to your camground and drinking it there is no problem, albeit against the rules. Drinking in the open you need to be a little more discreet. As long as you aren't causing a problem, and are drinking with an unmarked cup, no one will give you trouble. You can't run around shotgunning cans though.

Had no problem with beer in the campgrounds and was never stopped walking into the festival area with a drink in a cup. The beer gardens are nice, its not as big of a deal as you think it would be. There is more of a family atmosphere, compared to a lot of other festivals, so they like to keep it under control to a certain extent. Still plenty of opportunity to have fun, don't worry.
I have some good friends going to this this year. So this is on my radar. Must see what other festival lineups hold for me before I commit one way or another.
approo515 Have you ever done VIP at this fest? Also, as far as the beer & wine garden and the food vendors go, is it pretty pricey or fairly reasonable? Thank you for your input!
We were there last year with the kids. This is a very family oriented fest which is part of the reason for the alcohol prohibitions. I have to say I hated the part where I had to stay in a beer garden to have a beer. I found it interfered with shows I wanted to see but it was worth the trade off for size and location.
Depending on your budget VIP is a hell of a sweet deal because it includes your food and drink as well as a bunch of extras.
For those that have been to Floydfest - will they have any more ads?
We are considering this one this year as a way to break the kids into the festival scene. They'll be 7 and 9 this summer and are finally old enough I think they can handle it. I've heard a lot of good things about this fest in terms of being family friendly as well. Plus it won't be as hot and brutal as Roo.
Just curious if I should expect any more additions?

I've never gone -- but I'm considering going this year too.
Based on the previous line-ups, it looks like this is the line-up may be final. But I honestly don't know.
Edward Sharpe Lumineers Gogol Bordello Trampled by Turtles Yonder Mtn Stringdusters Blitzen trapper Devil Makes Three Jason Isbell Last Bison
Just off the top of my head -- this is awesome.
Edit: There are definitely some TBDs on the schedule -- and a big spot Sunday closer spot that too

When will the schedule come out for this, May/June? I will for sure be out there for a day or two. My apartment is only about about an hour away.
I will more than likely buy a two day pass, looking to see Edward Sharpe, The Lumineers, Trampled by Turtles, Citizen Cope, and Delta Rae. I will wait to see Edward Sharpe at Floydfest and use the time for other things at roo... see the Lumineers twice probably.
I could live without seeing Delta Rae if it wouldn't fit in a two day schedule, but I really hope the rest does.
I don't know if you can expect much more in terms of additions. We took our kids to this last year and they were 10 and 7. It's a great fest for families but be prepared for crowds at the headliners. And the field is REALLY dark for the headliners!

Unless they are changing things up this year, there won't be a big Sunday closer. The festival usually wraps up late Sunday afternoon. Sunday is typically light all the way around, as far as "big" acts.

They have a TBD for 2:45 - 3:30 on the Porch and 4:30 - 6 on the main stage for Sunday. My guess is they will get the same act to fill up both slots. Be interesting if they add one more top 5 act.
Unless it is somebody that I am very interested in I will be buying a one day pass for Friday.

I apologize. I just now so this was directed to me. I have not done VIP before. I'm not actually sure what all it entails. As far as camping proximity, everyone is close to the actual festival.
The beers and food, to the best of my memory it is fairly reasonable. Obviously compared to a non festival setting, things are overpriced, but I don't remember being taken aback by the prices, or anything like that.

I could see it being someone like McCoury or Sam Bush. They typically go heavier on the bluegrass on Sunday, I think. I wouldn't expect anything much bigger, or mainstream, than that. It would be a big change of pace from previous years.
So for anyone that has been or know somebody that has what is the story with the Delta parking lot. Weekend parking is $75 and was just curious if it was worth the money?
This is only about 2 hrs. from me and being a bluegrass guy this is much more appealing then most.
