Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
My wife and I are in. I always talk about going, but haven't, even though it's just 45 mins away. Wilco is a deal sealer! And by the way, Nick Tolford plays a lot around Columbus. He's worth checking out.
Klim, do you have kiddies? Are you bringing them to this?
I'm thinking we are bringing the chil'rens. Anyone have an opinion on if it is a good fest for kids? (Age 10 and 12).
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

No, we don't have children. However, everything I've heard, both from friends who have gone before and from a buddy who has worked security the last two years, it's not an International-waters-type rager.

triple l, nelsonville is the most kid-friendly festival i've ever been to. they have a kids stage and an art area with lots of activities going on. we're trying to get our non-festival going friends and family with kids to go this year b/c we know the kids would have a blast. www.nelsonvillefest.org/kids.html i guess some of this stuff would be too young for a 10 and 12 year old, but i think they would like the festival. the last 2 years there's been kids everywhere! i couldn't enjoy my corn b/c i would have had to share it with all of them!

Made the trip to Cleveland last night for the Jeff Mangum show, the buzz around the auditorium was that he's going to be playing the Nelsonville Music Festival. Would absolutely love to see this happen.
As far as the festival being kid friends goes I would say absolutely as well. This is the most family friendly festival I've ever attended. I volunteer every year for the last few years and really want to emphasize that it really is the most family friendly fest around.
I want to say that it's pure speculation but it was really strange hearing it from people out of the blue like that. I feel as if this fest is completely something he should do as it just seems to completely fit him.
I'm getting really excited for this. I'm a fan of huge fests like Bonnaroo, but I also really enjoy being at a small fest like this especially with all the stellar music they bring every year. Hopefully I'll get to see another performance by Southeast Engine. Last year, the power went out on the stage, so they did some acoustic numbers and had the crowd sing backup. One of those magical fest moments.
Apparently, Gogol is headlining on Thursday, Wilco on Saturday and Prine on Sunday. They still have one more round of additions which will include the Friday headliner, but right now a lineup like this for $110 is not bad by any means.
To me, $110 seems overpriced. You could see the three headliners separately for less than that. And that is assuming you really want to see all 3 and would pay to see them separately.

There's four (one unannounced) headliners. 110/4 = 27.50 which is less than you'd pay to see any of these headliners plus you get to see a pretty stacked undercard.
Edit: I'd also like to add that this is a not for profit festival and all proceeds go towards benefiting the historical Stuart Opera House, so the price increase from last year (which was $90 for a three day festival) is going to towards getting bigger and better acts, not going into somebody's pocket.
I get your point, but Wilco is the only headliner I'd contemplate paying full price to see. Made in America Festival was $135 and that brought A LOT more bang for the buck (even if it was only 2 days instead of 4).
I'm still considering going to Nelsonville though, especially if my friend will be in Athens at that time. It just seems kind of pricey to me when any band listed after the top 9 on the lineup would likely be a lounge act at Bonnaroo.

It's a small festival, so of course it can't match the talent offered by a Jay-Z curated, corporately funded festival. The fact is, even if the ticket price does seem a bit high (and it's not, compared to many other small festivals with a similar draw) you're paying for a far more intimate experience, shared with (at most) 6,000 other people instead of close to 100,000. At least you'll spend far less time waiting in line for a porta-john...

I'm also heading down after work today, but I'm going to camp. This will be my first year attending this fest, and I'm looking forward to checking it out.
