Had to miss this year (glad I was able to catch the last one at Marvin's though). Still kicking myself over missing Branford Marsalis. This year may be the year I return, depending on lineup. I did, however, hear some less than favorable things about the new location. We'll see!

My parents want to hit up a big camping fest that isn't too hot and is either close or close to an airport. I've been thinking All Good is their best option. So if they go, I'll be there. (If anyone can think of another good option, let me know)
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
bonzai, does it get hot up there in July? You've got Gathering of the Vibes right in your home state.
It can get hot, but they're thing is they want to to do one more big camping fest before they "get too old and broken". They do closer, small city fests often enough. Vibes is close enough where we can drive down for the day if we wanted to. And the lineups.. ehhhh.

The location was more than fine. It was easy to navigate. Nothing was too far. The lines to get in and out of the music weren't bad at all.
I really liked the location. We made a family vacation out of it this year. The kids had a blast.

We will be going as a family again this year.
I heard the grounds were just not the best (lots of gravel in front of stages) and I heard the staff had became much more strict than in years past.
I didn't have any problems with staff. Even when I was visiting friends with out the kids. As far as the gravel in the front of the stages. I didn't think it was too bad. I wore sandals for most of the time, and didn't really notice a problem.
I can see where people had issues. But I think it was more of "I miss the old and can't love the new yet." The problems that people were up in arms about were exaggerated and fixable in my opinion.
I attended last year's AllGood. It was my first AllGood and I loved it. It was cloudy and about 75 degrees (perfect fest weather imo). I had to throw away some protein bars and crackers, but most of the staff didn't care what we had. They had people out walking around in the camps telling everyone to not have glass bottles, but they seemed extremely confused as to what was actually happening. I don't think they've ever experienced anything like it. I'm sure it'll improve now that I've had a run thru at the new location, but in terms of all the complaints that I heard, Bonnaroo is far worse in comparison in every aspect.
the biggest issue i heard is that there were undercover cops (something that has never happened at all good before) and maybe a little bit of shadyness/misperception on their part in a very few cases. quite a few people were upset. Nothing like Gnarnia. If it is over NO NO words (which i think was the case at all good) then remember you are doing things that will get you in trouble. There are undercovers EVERYWHERE so be smart with what you do AND KNOW YOUR RIGHTS!
Edit: the undercovers were worst at forecastle. they were just grabbing people. at all good they were at least watching and building a case. so do be careful.

If you live close to Buckeye then it's a solid fest to hit up.
I on the other hand drove like 13 hours or so for the fest from Southern Alabama. Fest was a TURD compared to when it was on Marvins Mountain!!!
Don't do VIP, it wasn't really worth it other than hearing music in my campsite.
The gravel was BS. The staff were complete jackasses. We were hanging out in the GA camping after Galactic late night and when we went back to VIP camping (have to go through concert area) there were about 10 yellowshirts or whatever just standing their playing pocket pool, and they wouldn't let us go back to our camp! There were like 5 sadface'd VIPers waiting "for the taxi" that would take them to camp that wasn't coming. I literally had to get aggro and make a huge scene for something to happen. It was the biggest BS moment I've ever experienced that was the festival's fault. I'm just grateful we didn't need insulin or something from our camp or we would have been in trouble. The people that had been sitting their waiting forever were so glad I showed up and made a scene or they would have been there all night, as the original security guys said "we'd have to wait till the morning to get to camp." Shoulda gone to vibes!!
The biggest complaints I heard from everyone were regarding the staff and the gravel. Haha. The Mountaintop was just too perfect of a fest location, I don't think it's possible to capture the magic of that place. But it's a real bummer to hear the staff aren't quite as cool as in years past.
^^ yea they were clearly locals. All the actual fest people and wet team were obviously cool.
At the lil security check getting into the fest from VIP two of the guys were shaking down campers. Going through your stuff TSA style. I didn't have any issues from it but it pissed me off. The lil bitchboy tried to go through my wallet! I had to tell him "that's not happening dude, why you want to know how much money I have you gonna try to roll me later???" and he just "let me go" after that.
The local security were robbing people's campsites in GA all weekend I kept hearing about it all wknd. This happened to Marvins too though. At Allgood '10 on the Sunday we were waiting for AAA to bring us a Sparkplug (always have AAA..) and we just watched in amazement as rovings bands on good ol boy local security just ransacked camp after camp. Disgusting.
I never had any issues when I went in '11, I thought the staff was super lax and for the most part very friendly. The law West Virginia law enforcement on the other hand...
Has everyone forgotten the drive to the mountain. Hours and hours and hours.
OR those hills?
I know it seems so perfect. But that's just because its something we can't have. The mountain had it's problems too.
I totally didn't mind Ohio. They really treated the families well.
The drive to the mountain was my favorite part! West Virginia is my favorite state and I loved seeing and experiencing all of it, including the winding road up the mountain.

It never bothered me either, hell I met some of my best friends on the three times I took that trip. I have been to Buckeye Lake before and I do not see me making it up there for AllGood unless the lineup is beyond stellar.
I also heard from several GA people about being camped towards an interstate and that AllGood changed the protocol so the first in does not really get the good spots anymore. I never once saw a cop on Marvins, I saw staff try to pretend to be cops but there were not really any undercovers up there, and that was one of the reasons the locals did not like it.
I went to All Good back in 2010 and 11. I might try and go back depending on the lineup, I really enjoyed old All Goods and would like to see the new set up. I'm pretty curious who will headline this year. I guess we'll find out the 26th.
Can't wait for the lineup announcement. I did not attend last year so am curious as to how they work logistics there. I went to Hookahville on those grounds in May and thought it was fine. The gravel is different but don't know if I would call it bad. As for camping, I am wondering what you mean by where they put you. I thought there was no car camping so it is more walking your stuff to your spot. For Hookahville, we went all the way to the back of the ground close to the interstate and loved the spot. As for lineup, here is the rumors I have read online at other sites for some of the bands:
Panic Further Umphrey's Moe Galactic STS9 Mule DSO Railroad Earth Tea Leaf Green SOJA Bassnectar Pigeons Playing Ping Pong

I don't know if there is somewhere else to find festival comparison info, so I hope it is appropriate to ask here. My deal is this: I enjoyed Bonnaroo immensely the last three years, but I'm thinking of going to All Good instead this year. Reasons: my usual group will not commit to going this year, I live in Ohio, and I am not blown away enough by the lineup to drive that far and hang by myself. Legend whatever/Buckeye Lake is only like 2 - 2.5 hours from home for me, though I ahve not been to that venue in 15 years. What can I expect from it?
Any pros/cons vs Bonnaroo? I don't do anything super bad, but I don't want to get popped by LEO's for indulging at my campsite one night. I'd also prefer not to have all my shiz stolen or vandalized. Is the atmosphere as laid back as at Bonnaroo? There it seems like you are free to party however you like as long as you are not bothering anyone, and I've never had a problem as far as camping or theft or anything. How are the stage setups? Concessions? Getting there would be incredibly easy for me, and I'm sure the lineup will be good, but I'm not sold on the venue.
